      The Worklife Bowl

So I will turn 50 in September. I have worked in food service. I don’t know if my entire life and customer service. I physically cannot do the kind of work I used to be able to do and I just don’t have the same energy. I’m trying to find something I can do from home or some sort of Office job, but I do think my age is getting in the way. I mean, I’m on enough to remember when homes didn’t have computers so technology doesn’t scare me. I’m honestly not sure what direction to go in .

Work-life balance is dead. After researching, I've learned it's about "work-life FIT" not balance. 🔄 Balance = equal weight (impossible) ✅ Fit = adapting work to YOUR life Companies offering flexible core hours, results-focus, and mental health days are winning. I created a 21 page free Personal Work-Life Fit Framework for anyone Get it: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tHhh1XeorqzJsufOUFQeDsHbXB4_C8cCig2AsWa5fro/edit?tab=t.0 What's your biggest work-life challenge?

After a decade, I was laid off over a 5-minute Zoom call with a faceless HR rep I’ve never met. My access to my email and files was cut off before the call even ended, so I couldn't even send a thank you or a goodbye to the team I built from scratch. It’s a brutal reminder that to these corporations, loyalty is a one-way street that ends abruptly at a spreadsheet cell. How do you rebuild your self-worth when a company discards ten years of your life like a piece of junk mail?

Anyone have any intel they can share about NY Life? I tried the Search & didnt find any posts about it. They have actively reached out to me several times and I've talked to a recruiter there a couple of times. I already have my state Life Insurance license but I would need health as well, which they would pay for me to get.. Someone I trust warned me against them, said they have Hi turnover.. any input is appreciated!

Investments, do you have them? How often do you check them? Unfortunately for me it's late in life and I haven't had a life where I could really save or invest in anything. I'm not sure what someone would even need to retire these days. I'm guessing it's in the millions. Are you saving for your future, and if so how? Do you check on it often and adjust? What's your strategy and how do you do it?

Not sure where to post this but I’m just curious. Does anyone keep getting an email from a company called Globe Life? I keep seeing it pop up on job board and now I got an email from a recruiter. I’m not interested in it because I can’t handle insurance. I have a hard enough time understanding my own insurance let alone working for an insurance company. LoL!

Everything after breaking six figures (in LCOL - so around 27-28) has felt meaningless. I’m by far the most well off in my circle of friends. Just have lost my drive for more. I guess I built up in my head that I’d want to grind it out to downright rich status but now wondering if this is really all there is to life. Having an existential crisis at 30
