Super grateful. Not too long ago I posted about being selected as a top candidate for an AMM position (RME) with a verbal offer and it being reversed because I didn’t have a bachelors degree. Well I just signed my offer letter as Assistant Chief at a higher HOURLY rate than the AMM salary. Everything happens for a reason. I didn’t get discouraged or angry with the company. I kept my head up and maintained a good work ethic. Now onto this next adventure 🙏🏽🙏🏽💪🏽💪🏽. Keep going!!!

Rising 3rd year lit associate aiming to retool into M&A. I know it's difficult but for now I have a coffee chat and a phone screener with recruiting set up at two firms. Currently V10, looking to lateral down. For those who have retooled, what was expected of you in terms of technical skills before starting? I know some basics of M&A practice / why I'm interested but should I spend time really delving into substantive knowledge / docs for purposes of these chats / any callbacks? Thank you.

Having trouble figuring out where A&M fits in the market for job opportunities. I know it’s a “T2” but I find myself struggling to find the exits that my peers in other firms are experiencing. Would you considering moving to another firm to improve your exits? What about getting an MBA near 30? I have 7 YOE in consulting.

What does EM/ PL look like Mck and bcg and how is the promotion process structured? It feels very different from Bain with a dedicated M year and it seems like the scope of an SM is typically closer to more tenured EM/PL (typically overseeing 3-4+). We have a pretty thorough promotion process from M to SM

Currently a PM at Google - any value in pursuing M7 MBA? VC seems interesting but don’t know too much yet. Also seeing a lot of undergrad peers go to top MBAs so thought it’s something I should be thinking about as well, especially if the network is useful later on in my career?

Currently in Risk, and have a potential opportunity to go into M&A, but will have to drop title for roughly the same pay. Not too found of risk, but don’t hate it either. I think I’ll find the M&A space more interesting. What are your thoughts? How is the M&A space?

Anyone from MBB moved to A&M (esp. from APAC)? How's the experience? Wonder if the hours and experience is better in A&M? Had several search firms and recruiters representing A&M reaching out. Would like to get thoughts on if the move is worth considering?

Current Manager in tech consulting at EY doing ERP transformation strategy w/ 1.5 YOE at level post - M7 MBA. What are my odds of lateraling into A&M PEPI Software & Tech M&A? Group seems to be hiring quite a bit at the moment. Is it better to wait until the two year mark?

BCG Platinion folks, how does career / salary progression look like for a M in Tech Advisory & Delivery? A recruiter reached and noted $190k as base. My understanding is that it’s not a “true” consulting role within BCG, but the move will be a ~30% increase in base.

Considering two offers one from RSM and one from Alvarez & Marsal in M&A tax. Base pay is similar but I’ve been told A&M has a significant bonus. Can anyone offer advice on which offer is better and any specifics on the bonus at A&M?
