      Fintech

Welcome to the new edition of the Fintech Wrap Up! This week showed how scale still matters, but only when backed by strong infrastructure. Bank of America’s consumer bank generates over 41 billion dollars in revenue and 10.8 billion dollars in profit, yet retail banking continues to miss on personalisation despite high customer expectations. https://open.substack.com/pub/samboboev/p/coinbases-strategy-map-baas-vs-embedded?utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web

I recently got married, and we are planning to combine finances fully. We are not well off by any means, but we still do our best to save what we can.I bank with wells Fargo and he banks with Chase. Would like some suggestions on where we should open a new account together. In GA for reference. A little nervous about potentially doing online banking that doesn't have a physical branch but some seem to have great interest in savings accounts.

Anybody have a bank that they like? Recently married and looking to make a new joint account for joint expenses & bills (pls don't give me advice about that it's happening). Also need to finally break up with Bank of America because... well basically everything about that company. Who do you use and why do you recommend them? Heard good things about Ally, a good choice? Anyone use the banking offerings from Fidelity/SoFi/Wealthfront?

I just published a new Fintech Wrap Up deep dive, and I wrote it because I kept hearing the same lazy take: “Big banks win because they’re big.” That’s not what I see. Bank of America’s consumer bank wins because its model is structurally tight. It is a set of compounding loops that reinforce each other. https://www.fintechwrapup.com/p/deep-dive-bank-of-americas-consumer

Most roles at a big bank sit at the intersection of technology, data and business operations. It’s less glamorous than people expect but the exposure you get across different teams is genuinely hard to get anywhere else. Lateral moves are common and often the fastest way to grow. If you are considering banking, what draws you to it specifically?

Curious to know what the pay structure is like at the top 4 banks right now, for associate, associate director and director levels, in corporate banking. I saw some bigger numbers in another post (stating 135k base for associate director level) and don't know if that seems correct?
