Anyone out there at a firm with a well-supported tax group? I’m at an AM40 and am basically the sole associate for a very small group of hoarding partners, which has resulted in feast or famine for me and I feel like I’m about to lose my mind. I can’t specialize (because if I do, I lose a chunk of work) and I feel like I’m on an island. I think I’m ready for something better, and would move to seize that opportunity, but I don’t have any ideas. 4th year with LLM if helpful.

I recently moved up to ACD from Group copy sup (title attached to my account is outdated) and I feel like it has been by far the biggest jump of my career. Is it normal to feel like you went from the best group copy sup to an ACD that is struggling to find their footing? Managing and delegating instead of being in on the day-to-day aspects of the brand has been a tough thing to get the hang of. Any advice for a brand new ACD?

I took on a side project to design a simple landing page for $2k, and the client has officially turned it into a full brand identity overhaul. They’re texting me at 11 PM on Saturdays asking for just one quick tweak to the logo icon and hinting at future equity instead of actual milestone payments. I’m about to fire them, but I really need the money to pay off some unexpected car repairs this month. How would you approach this?

If a small specialized lit group gets poached by another firm, is it bad to join their group at the already-established firm they went to? They are building it out at the established firm and looking for associates at other firms for now, but not sure if folks have experience with that. Seems like a good way to pivot into a specialty, but worry about the risk too.

PepsiCo wants consumers to more easily recognize their many brands and so they've launched a new logo. What do you think of the logo and do you think this will help consumers more easily identify/remember the company's many brands? https://www.adweek.com/brand-marketing/pepsicos-first-new-logo-in-25-years-marks-its-shift-to-a-branded-house/

Thoughts on Debevoise PE group? Clients, folks, culture? Want to work my ass off at a great institution to later make partner (I know it’s almost impossible there, so ideally lateraling as a partner at a v20). They’ve introduced a NEP track so possible, but have no idea what it looks like (first promotion yet to be announced).

Would you tell your client they need a new brand logo? I feel very strongly that this particular brand's voice and its logo have no synchronicity at all, but it also feels a little out of place for us to make that suggestion. If you've ever done this, how did it go for you?

Now that AmEx has announced new changes to the AmEx Platinum, and Chase Sapphire announced their new changes earlier this year, what are people’s new credit card lineups? If you went with AmEx Platinum, did you go with standard version, Schwab, or MS?
