Does anyone have a second phone that they use solely for work? Not purchased by the office. When I told a coworker not to check his email this weekend, he told me not to worry because he would leave his work phone at home. He has two phones! I am so intrigued. I can see why it would be preferred to have a separate phone for privacy/privilege concerns and also for work/life balance too. Now I’m considering purchasing a second phone but before I do I wanted to see what everyone is doing.

Hi Everyone. I recently got an interview invite from Microsoft for a principal product manager role on the Microsoft Shopping / Commerce team. This is the initial phone screen with hiring manager and not the full loop. Would anyone who has interviewed for a similar PM role at Microsoft be willing to share what the phone screen usually focuses on? For example, is it more around product sense, execution, strategy, stakeholder management, commerce domain knowledge, or leadership depth?

Shouldn’t these companies pay for our mobile bills given we’re required to use our mobile phones to authenticate? I know those that travel automatically expense to the client but I’m talking about everyone, including those of us who are in office or wfh. I’m considering getting a separate phone because it’s all too intrusive for me. Even my client’s von requires it so now they ‘have access’. How does your company address this?

If you're with Tmobile, a lot of people are reporting retention offers for phone lines. Just sent them a chat asking for a retention offer and after initial pushback, once I asked for a transfer PIN (which is needed to switch carriers), they gave me $10 off the next 7 months. Took maybe 30 min. Some people are getting more, like $20/month for 6 months and an upfront $100+ credit. Worth a try. Hopefully this helps someone!

Just a cool recommendation - I was at a conference (with speakers from Disney, GTA, Nokia, etc) and really liked the approach to design work at Wolt (DoorDash) and Nokia, so much that I started thinking about applying to their design teams. Maybe you’d find it interesting too - https://youtu.be/dYdwBuskh7A?si=AqlXZ7muahZSQOrY Not an ad, not affiliated with the sponsors/speakers/organizers

I’ve beaten a lot of my bad habits. But my phone? That one is undefeated. It’s so easy to justify “just checking something” or “just one scroll” then suddenly hours are gone. I’m starting to think phone addiction is one of the hardest to break because it’s everywhere and feels normal. Anyone else struggling with this one or have you actually figured it out?

Had a coworker go MIA today. Boss was losing it trying to get ahold of him. Finally reached out at 430 saying his phone died and he couldn’t find it. I’m sure he got a talking to but he’s younger and I swear I feel like common sense isn’t common anymore. Could you not send an email on your laptop or something to let the boss know you’re having a phone issue?
