      Salary Negotiations

      Michelle Branson
      5mo

Had a second interview with a company & it went very well, one of the supervisor's even complimented me on what a great interview it was. Less than 2hrs later they called and wanted to make me an offer, then proceeded to tell me that there was a mistake made in the first interview, they stated my previous salary was in the range of this current salary range, when in fact the actual salary range is a lot less. I feel like this was a huge mistake on thier part, my question is what would you do?

      Salaries in Tech

I'm an AE at Microsoft and have 'climbed the ladder' from a junior entry level vendor role. I'm learning a tonne in my current role and feel there's a ceiling to my career progression. I'm a victim of not hopping around tech companies to benefit from salary bumps. As a result, my salary and level are lower than what they should be. I have a potential opp to join Google as an AE in a different role, potentially more junior but would massively boost my sales accumen, Should i make the jump?

I had an interview today via Zoom and at the end was asked what is my salary requirement. I then asked what was the range for the position. I could tell she wasn’t expecting the question so she took a few minutes to pull up the position. She then said it’s x - xx and we think with your experience it’s more along xx and would that be acceptable. I responded yes. This was my first time asking and will be my go to if the position doesn’t have a range. I’m proud of myself.

      Salaries in Accounting

I am on a salary of 83K incl. super with 5 years of experience as intermediate accountant in a public practice. I don't think I am at Senior Level yet. looked around the job market and most of the jobs have no salary mentioned. Few recruiters reach out now and then and when i show interest and ask for the salary range the response I get is "they are open to salary range as long as the candidate is a right fit". That just feels like a red flag. What is your salary in similar position?

Was fired from Octave as part of News UK in London because I was struggling to look after my dying grandfather which when explained to my manager no empathy was shown at all - infact my work load was intensified because our team of 3 was managing what a team of 7 once was - to top this off I had recently made them aware of my diagnosis of having Bi-Polar disorder and suffering from disorienting migraines I had also just moved flat and now cannot afford the rent

I got a promotion, but the raise is minimal — only 10% — and lower than what I see advertised for similar positions. There was an ad for the same position at my company two years ago, and even then the lower end of the salary range was 25% higher than what I was offered. Is this because it’s an internal promotion? Or has the market really gotten so bad that salaries have dropped by 25%? Do companies exaggerate salary ranges in job ads only to offer less in the end?

Are others seeing quite a bit of chat around people/candidates expecting to receive an offer in the upper to top tier of the salary range for a role? OR current employees seeing company job postings and expecting a raise b/c the salary range posted has a ceiling that is higher than what they are currently making? I think the average person might not understand what a pay range is and they are mistaking this for starting base pay range....

      Interview Tips

      Patient Eligibility and Enrollment Specialist
      2mo

I was sent an invitation to go in for an interview. The interview is not for one of the positions I applied for. From what I see it's for a lower position in the company. I am procrastinating to accept the calendar invite and see how it goes or just decline it in general. Should I go and see if I can be convincing enough to get offered the position I originally applied for or should I just decline? Thank you community in advance.

I was ghosted after I sent my counter offer. Is that a thing now?! I interviewed for a role that posted their salary range. The day after my interview i got an email with an offer with the base salary putting me at the beginning of the posted salary range. I replied asking if that salary was negotiable and suggested somewhere in the middle. That was 2 days ago. Should I follow up?

About to be a 9th year associate. Eligibility for promotion isn’t until after you complete 9th year at my firm (so one year away). Has anyone negotiated for more salary for your (potentially) final year as an associate? Already making $435k as an 8th year and our salary scale doesn’t go past 8th technically. Do any firms have 9th years on the scale?
