I was put on a PIP when I was teaching high school mathematics & simultaneously pursuing a teaching certification. There hadn’t been any prior complaints about my work. I moved to a new apartment & for some reason my work laptop wouldn’t connect. After 3 technicians examined the problem, it was obviously the laptop. After taking it to the school for help, I was told it was the new internet. I called the principal & let her know I was having connectivity issues & with 3 days left before report….

Can I get advice on how to network? I’m a huge introvert and building professional relationships has been a struggle. I do the linkedin connections request and never speak to them again. How do I approach it? Like not ideals or advice. Hold my hand and tell me what I need to do. I’m so scared. I feel everything is a transaction. Or they know I’m just using them. And i dont have friends and dont maintain old relationships. I have nothing to offer. I dont have value. But i need to learn 🙏

I don’t know how to network and maintain connections. I have been working in this industry for 15 years, I always get positive reviews about my work and how I show up as an employee, but I still cant seem to maintain connections when I move on from one role to another. I am chronically ill, and so I often don’t have the stamina to do an 8-10 hour workday and then also do happy hour or other social things after work. Im now four months into a layoff and realizing how incredibly isolated I am.

I was doing freelance work today and ran into a dilemma. I started using my older computer for a freelance project, since the newer one doesn't have the requirements for the project I am doing. However it decided to break in the middle of it. I am debating on getting a new computer with the requirements needed, however I am worried about the work not being stable. Have you ran into this with either job search or freelance and what would you do?

I’ve been in consulting for a while but always at smaller firms where things were stable and internal. Now that I’m trying to make a move, I’m realizing how much of this industry runs on networking and I never really built one. I wasn’t very outgoing in school or early in my career, and I honestly still find reaching out pretty awkward. How do you even start building connections this late in the game?

Hey All If you work on the GO train, what provider do you use? I have fido, and I never get enough signal on the GO train to hotspot my laptop, and the WiFi on the train is no good, at least the free one. Does anyone know if the pay one is better? Tech folks, do you think it is a network issue or a hardware issue or both. I use a Google Pixel 7 pro.

I’ve been thinking about how networking can significantly impact career growth. A friend recently got a promotion thanks to a mentor who supported her. It made me realize that these connections can play a crucial role in salary negotiations. How has networking affected your career? Have you leveraged connections to negotiate better pay?

Your network can shape your career. How are you building connections within and outside your company? Are online platforms like LinkedIn enough, or are there better ways to grow your network? Personally I think connection by attending some conferences are the best way to build connection with somebody outside of my company.

I keep hearing it’s all about who you know, but I’m starting from zero. I don’t have a single connection in the field I want to pivot into. How do you build a network from scratch? What helped you most? https://www.fastcompany.com/91354292/how-to-network-when-you-dont-have-a-network
