What’s the path to partnership like for corporate specialist groups (e.g., tax, IP, etc.)? Thinking about pivoting out of litigation, but while litigators can build their own client base, specialist groups seem to mainly serve corporate. How do you establish yourself when you don’t ‘own’ the client? Is this something you just figure out later, or is it a real ceiling? I’m not dying to go in-house and do care about partnership odds (though I know lit isn’t exactly a golden path either)
