On Partner track for 3 years smashing my numbers but just been told due to strategic pivot my case is now viewed as MD role only, not partner. Am gutted, MD promo is on for this summer and would be a big salary uptick but tops out quickly w/ no equity. Have equity partner offer from a new PE backed boutique firm, very exciting, but clearly risky. For those that moved from Big4/known brands to something very different, what did you wish you knew before? Am I crazy to consider in this economy?

At a Big 4 firm, great team, great reputation, very manageable work, but they've delayed my promotions and paid me the typical homegrown comp over the years, and partnership is still at least 3 years off. Top 10 firm (PE backed) just offered me partner and double the comp. But I'd have to rebuild my brand and go to market even more heavily to hit the ground running as much as possible - both things I'm capable of, but stressful nonetheless, plus PE. Take it, right?

If you haven't realized the game yet... 1.Pre/seed VC/PE firm with mostly private individuals as LPs make investments at super low multiples 2. Do some fugazi "value creation" 3. Series A, B, C firms with mostly institutional LPs where money is coming from pension/public funds makes an investment at super high multiples 4. All the funds with mostly private individuals as LPs make a killing and look to exit 5. The startup fails or goes public 6. All the middle managers get paid 7. ...

I’ve been with Western Financial Group for 13 years, experiencing significant changes in structure and technology. Western offers competitive pay, fully paid benefits, Wellness Days, and employer-matching programs for RRSPs and ESOP. The company values career development, providing opportunities for growth and learning at all levels. It’s a great place to work, and I look forward to continuing to grow within my role.

Public global parent company may be acquired later this year and taken private - the potential PE buyer already owns a controlling stake in the company and has for years. I’m one of 3 lawyers at the U.S. subsidiary which is the most profitable globally and likely the real target. Been here almost a year. Any advice? 2019 grad in house for reference.

How’s everyone else in structured finance doing? On Friday I got 2 new OMs for inaugural ABS and an initial draft of a CLO loan agreement for a truly bespoke facility, on top of another dozen deals closing before year end. This is easily going to be my highest billing year, and the first half of next year seems a bit mad

What organizations have a great financial crime team? I'm trying to understand if there are specific companies, law firms, or technology providers leading the way in AML, fraud detection, or compliance. Also, are there particular sectors (like banking, tech, or consulting) that are especially strong in financial crime prevention?

Can any NY midlevel funds associates at K&E share their experiences? Got an offer and was going to accept, but hearing some horror stories as I connected with more people this past week, so considering heading to STB or Proskauer instead (have offers at both of these as well)

Thoughts on moving from FDD to the solutions team at a fintech firm? Can’t tell if it’s a sales position, but kind of like internal and external consulting. Would receive equity though which is pretty nice. Base is lower than my next promotion but all in with equity would be more

I really dislike "financial advisors" at places like Northwestern mutual or any other equivalent places. Strongly advise everyone to get a fiduciary and stay away from these scam companies. They do not have your best interest in terms of finances.
