On my movie watch list - The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist is a deeply personal documentary that explores the existential crossroads of artificial intelligence. The film is framed through Roher’s own journey into fatherhood; as he prepares to welcome his first child, he is gripped by "AI insanity" and the dire warnings that the technology could either save or end humanity. As a software developer, my core focus has been on AI, I’ve been deeply invested in the field for the past few years. Most of my recent work centers around Agentic AI and multi-agent systems, and I’ve developed several hands-on projects that reflect a strong understanding of these areas. I’m looking to take the next step in my journey, which I feel is me entering the AI field. I'd greatly appreciate any insight on further areas you all think I should develop in, certificates, projects, etc.

I keep hearing “learn AI or get left behind” and honestly, I’m torn. As a PdM, I don’t know if spending 40 hours on a Udemy ML course will actually move the needle for my career… or just give me another certificate. I tried personalized AI career plan survey (l.artics-us.com/us), tried the free check and it gave me a preview of a my roadmap. The full thing is paid though. Would you dive straight into a course and figure it out later, or spend time upfront getting a strategy first?

Seeing a lot of rhetoric around accenture betting big on AI and transforming internally and our clients with big bets etc etc... other than a copilot license does anyone think anything we have done internally with AI is actually helping people or improving productivity? Like MME, my scheduling, MMS, anyone worked with an SA or CTS knows it's all excel. Like its just more work on this level from what I can see rather than AI or automation or any technical advancement in years. . .

Yes, this topic gets beaten to death, but I still don't see a satisfying practical answer. AI is already replacing many staff/senior tasks. The "learn to use the tools" advice is fine but surface-level. For accountants who genuinely valuable long-term, not just employed, but irreplaceable, what's actually working for you? Specific pivots, skill investments, mindset shifts. What does evolving with AI look like in practice, not just in theory?

Just saw this article headline that said that AI is being of massive help for Publicis to win accounts without pitches, and that fifty percent of the reviews Publicis won in the past six months were without a pitch. I'm not subscribed to the publication, so I couldn't read the article, but I wanted to ask over here if anyone has an idea of how exactly this works. Sounds scary and exciting at the same time.

Are parts of your job already being automated? How many here are out of jobs because of AI or got jobs because of AI?

I’ve been reading about how big chains like McDonald’s, Chipotle, and Yum Brands are going all-in on AI. Everything from predicting when fryers will break down to drive-thru voice bots and scheduling tools. On paper, it sounds great. But I can’t help wondering what this means for workers in the long run. Does AI actually make our jobs easier? Would you want AI in your restaurant?

I think using AI in Job Hunting is like a eating a mushy Holiday sandwich. You have all the perks of using AI as the moist turkey, and your achievements are all the stuffing, but these multiple layers of AI use in Resumé building and ATS screening creates a mush between cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes. You can still eat that sandwich but you have to get through the messy bits.
