Hey all! I am a Senior postdoctoral researcher at UBC. I am a chemist with specialty in Organometallic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, polymer modifications and catalysis. Over 90% of jobs in Ontario and Quebec (where I would want to work, definitely no US jobs at the moment) are all either lab technician/QC jobs with abysmal pay or pharma jobs that require lots of background in pharmaceutics or biological assays. How is Protiviti Tech Audit/Advisory, just got an offer for a senior role coming from another mid firm (GT, RSM, BDO, Baker Tilly etc…). Are they any different, more demanding? I’ve been pretty fortunate to work on longer term engagements and have a great work life balance for the past few months and expecting to continue that, but my utilization has depleted heavily and most likely layoff are coming soon for me.

The only challenge is the pay—I’m an experienced phlebotomist, and the salary is lower than expected given the cost of living.
