      Crazy Customer Stories

We’ve been working from home since COVID started, with just one day/month in office. Now management’s switching it up, it’ll be 4 days a week in office 😅 They say it’s to help us collaborate more and build connections so people can grow and move up easier. And I get that but after years of remote life, it’s hard to imagine that kind of routine again. Curious how others are feeling about the push back does being in person actually help you grow at work, or is remote still where it’s at for you?

10 years in med devices, been through the whole journey - contract work, startup life, now big corporate. Made what I thought was a smart move, staying on the leadership track at the startup instead of taking a principal role. Then layoffs hit, and here I am, still a senior engineer making $120k at my current place. Don't get me wrong, love where I work, but feeling pretty stuck right now. How can I push past senior level when I feel like I should be further along?

Last month, I pushed back on a deadline because I was overloaded. My manager told me to find a way. So I skipped lunch, stayed late, and made it happen. And then it hit me. That’s exactly what they wanted. They know I’ll cave under pressure and get it done. I want to hold better boundaries, but I also don’t want to be seen as difficult. How do you push back in a way that doesn’t just lead to you being punished later?

I have a strong feeling that the company I'm interviewing with leaves room for negotiation in their initial offers. The problem is that the entire negotiation process gives me massive anxiety, so I'm tempted to just accept whatever they offer to avoid the stress. But I'm also worried about the impression that it may create. Will the hiring manager view me as a pushover if I don't counter?

I recently rolled out a flexible PTO policy and faced way more resistance than I expected. How do you handle pushback from managers who resist new HR initiatives or policies? I'm trying to figure out fond effective ways to get buy-in from teams that are set in their ways. I’m curious to hear what’s worked for others when it comes to shifting such entrenched mindsets.

Return to Office question: I’m in the third round of interviews with a company that (with traffic) would be an hour commute each way. They work 4 days in the office and are very proud of their building. How do I tactfully push for at least one additional work from home day to maintain some work-life balance. I want the job and am fearful of alienating them with this request.

Turns out I'm underpaid compared to my peers, but my manager is the type who avoids awkward talks about money. I’ve put off discussing it for months because I don’t want to come off ungrateful, I still make a pretty decent salary. But its starting to bother me now that they've piled on more duties. How do I push for a convo when I know it's not going to be welcome.

Mid-level is actively trying to push me (junior) out of a matter and get his friend involved in my place. Would you bring this up with a partner? I've been working on this matter for months; now the group is slow and the mid-level is trying to shift work away from me to his friend (who has much less knowledge and experience on this matter). Do I say something or suck it up?
