      Career Advice for Students

      Chirag Nayak

Hi, hope everyone is having a good day. CSE graduate 2025, currently working as a software engineer at Bangalore. I wish to pursue a master’s degree in the US with keen interest in Systems/ AIML/ Quantum Computing. I have a decent profile with good academic scores, a good programming profile, a published research paper and a couple of internships. Additionally, I play cricket at a professional level. Need advice on improving and building a solid profile. Any suggestions are welcome.

      Job Hunting in Tech

      Systems Engineer
      8mo

I’ve officially hit the 6 month mark in my job search. I’m trying to jump from systems engineering (with a focus on automated testing) into a QA Engineer role, and I was really hoping I would’ve landed something by now. I got lucky and had 2 interviews within the first month of my search, but the rest has been utter silence. All of the advice I’m seeing about how to land the role I want is about how to do better in interviews. What do you find helps you get the interview in the first place?

      Crazy Customer Stories

One of the weirdest calls I ever had: a guy seriously telling me he’d invented quantum physics and that the holographic strip on the $10 bill was actually a portal he put there. He was calm, convinced, and honestly sounded like he was living in his own sci-fi movie. It was one part eerie, one part hilarious, and totally stuck in my head for days. Anyone else had a caller whose theory made you ask, “Wait, are we still at work?”

      QA Manager

I've been looking for a new QA Manager role for several months. I've been getting interview opportunities, but the biggest stumbling block is lack of background experience with the company's product type. My background is with multiple types of finished products, just not an 'exact match'. Everything included in the job description was a perfect match for my experience except that one factor. Wondering if anyone else has overcome that same hurdle.

I would like to know more about the pwc ITS QS team. I am thinking about applying for that team. Is there anyone from that team? How many hours per week usually? Is there any busy season? How often do you need to go to the office? And does it emphasize more on the tax side or technology side? How often do you need to travel? I noticed that the travel requirement on the JD is up to 40%. Thanks!

How does TC differ between the UK and Switzerland at the Principal / Partner position for T2/MBB? Curious as there is a fair amount of data in Glassdoor showing that there is a pretty significant gap in TC up until the EM/SEM level (even more so if accounting for the tax differences) but there is significantly less data for Principals and Partners
