      Job Hunting in Tech

I got contacted by a recruiter about a job - he told me I would be 'the perfect candidate' for the role. It's true that they're asking for a number of very diverse skills which I happen to have. The company got in touch by email, explaining the process (4 rounds), with the first round being a 120-mins coding test on HackerRank. I don't really want to waste 2hrs of my life before even meeting someone from the company. They might not like me - I might not like them. What should I do?

Working with recruiters...continued I've come to the conclusion that recruiters should "apply" for the priviledge of working for me instead of the show of blind faith I've given in the past. Am I on the right track to ask * If they recruited for the organization they're recruiting for in the past? What were those results? * Whether or not they will provide updates and feedback on what they do in my name? * Where they are located (better to work with someone local). Anything I'm missing?

Looking for a job as a Talent Acquisition Specialist or Recruiter for the past few months and all of a sudden everyone wants to become a Recruiter; within minutes on LinkedIn over 100 applicants for every job opening. When I do receive interview requests it seems as though hiring teams already have a candidate in mind and are just conducting interviews. I don't ever remember the job search being this difficult, I have begun to look outside of my field. Any words of advice?

What exactly are recruiters looking for in candidates during interviews? I've had three first rounds and then been completely ghosted. They all said my portfolio was impressive, so I'm a little confused. It'd really help to know what ticked them off about me or what I was lacking so that I wasn't invited to another round. Please share your honest thoughts.

Please explain to me how recruiters evaluate fit. Is it mostly experience-based or is there a certain amount of weightage given to where the candidate worked previously. I've been unemployed for over 5 months now and I can't go on any longer without finding one. What do I need to fix? What is going on? According to me, my experience is pretty solid.

I really want to work here but this recruiting process is a joke. I’ve did 2 rounds of interviews and now going on 3 months to hear a yes or no. Recruiter disappeared after initial screening so I’m only talking directly with the HM on a 2-3 week basis of finding out they still haven’t decided. Guess I should just give it up lol

What kind of information do recruiters need to collect in order to figure out if the candidate is a good fit or not? I recently got asked about my family and my commitments towards them. I thought it was very weird and unprofessional, but I answered anyway because I really needed the job. Can recruiters here chime in?

There can be a lot of invisible factors behind who gets hired. Executive recruiter Deepali Vyas argues that hiring can be shaped by ego and desire to maintain control, not just qualifications. Has this shown up in your experience?

I don’t hate on anyone for trying to do their job but I’d hardly consider this trying… I can tell you right now I don’t want to work with this recruiter. It could be a great role for all I know but if you can’t be bothered to even fill in my name… come on. What would y’all do here?
