Do any other firms have really high utilization goals? When I was in audit as a senior associate, my goal was 87%. Which made sense because we had busy season to make up our hours. Now, a consultant, my company has a 95% utilization goal. But I did the math and it’s only ~13 days of PTO/sick/any other unbillable hours? And the handbook says take a MINIMUM of 3 weeks? Also 30% of our bonuses is based on whether we hit our utilization goal. Am I missing something? Anyone else have experience?

I’m leading a high pressure initiative and leaders are adding resources to the team from the woodworks. I try using an agile reference with leaders to ask if their resource is a pig or chicken. This is an internal project with no official budget. I know sometimes you need to slow down before you can speed up. But it’s very frustrating repeatedly onboarding people that try to reinvent the wheel vs just plugging in. Any tips on how to set expectations with team members allocations?

It's exciting to be working Reevo. We've grown really fast, the team is robust and diverse, and we're all playing to win the business domain. Software dev here is advanced -- our budget for AI usage seems unlimited. No one here codes by hand. Food benefit is very generous, with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Described in terms of Oregon Trail difficulty levels: Pace(steady, strenuous, grueling), Rations (filling, meager, bare bones), then Reevo would be Grueling with Super Filling rations.

Currently VP (post-MBA) at AlixPartners and interested in PE ops in 3-5 years. 1) How to go about getting traction? Eg which practices should I be associated with (eg PE, TMT); which functional specializations (eg M&A, org transformation, ops)? 2) Which types of funds should I target and how to get noticed by those? I’m trending towards mega funds (eg Blackstone, KKR, Bain, Silver Lake) as I’d expect better comp, steadier demand for my work and more exciting assignments (large cap companies)

I run the real estate arm of a small nonprofit in a small market. $50M in assets, ~$8M in annual revenue, ~$1M in budgeted net income for the year. I’ll be $181k TC with about $35k in commission (normally closer to $20k annually). The rest is goal incentive and a retention bonus. Annually, they give a ~4.5% COLA to base, which is $5k. I beat the net income target by 15%, roughly $150k, which is huge for us. How much more should I ask for? Considering asking for a base increase % of NI growth.

I'm a media company I was asked today how much time I spend working on one of my clients content & marketing strategy. Which I told them anywhere from 8 to 15hours a week. He broke that down to an hr rate to defend it wasn't worth more. I've always charged a flat fee as a retainer. They get perpetual licensing with the content I provide. I told him I need to raise my rates having already done the math and had the figure. My figure was based on real operating costs, paying myself, and taxes.
