      Job Hunting in Tech

      Junior Software Developer
      7mo

Somewhat recently, I decided to apply for a Junior Software Developer role that created software in the catering and hospitality business, i.e. bars, restaurants, etc. The first interview went fairly well. I then received an email explaining that, for my next steps, I would need to describe how I would go about solving a Rubiks cube in the next interview, which involved them posting an Amazon-bought Rubiks cube to my address. I was not hired in the end, but the cube serves as a nice fidget toy.

Something that may be of help to beat AI at least on the LinkedIn side of things is to only look at jobs posted within the past hour so you have the best opportunity to get your foot in the door. In the link: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/search-results/?f_TPR=r3600&f_SB2=6&f_WT=2&keywords=Hiring%20Agile%20Scrum%20Master%20Remote you see were it says "=r3600", that indicates positions posted within the past 3600 seconds (1 hour). Change the keywords to fit what you are looking for!

Got laid off but knew it was coming. Was working for this company for years, even during college. Last thing I was told to do was to train an Ai bot by feeding it my graphics and some new ones I created for upcoming campaigns. After it was able to automate the process, they let me go. I have been applying for a couple weeks now and have had a couple interviews but nothing came from them. Starting to feel discourage and considering changing careers. Any recommendations? or advice? TIA

Anyone else completely burnt out with AI as you feel it may be more evil than good? I’m having a real internal struggle with it and I’m literally in charge of it at the moment. It’s making me want to do an about face and do something completely different. Opening a coffeeshop is my dream but being a single homeowner in Florida that will be difficult. Just really want out of the tech world. I want to make a difference in something that won’t be taken over by AI in the future.

What's everyone's plan for upskilling to stay relevant with AI's impact on SEO? I've been looking for a solid resource that moves beyond the hype. Found this guide on "AI-Augmented SEO" that's actually practical. It focuses on the strategic skills we'll need and includes a pretty tough skill test. Good way to benchmark where you are and what to learn next. Sharing in case it helps anyone else future-proof their role. www.seosiri.com/2025/10/skill-test-ai-seo-guide.html

Just saw this article headline that said that AI is being of massive help for Publicis to win accounts without pitches, and that fifty percent of the reviews Publicis won in the past six months were without a pitch. I'm not subscribed to the publication, so I couldn't read the article, but I wanted to ask over here if anyone has an idea of how exactly this works. Sounds scary and exciting at the same time.

Anyone else spinning their wheels trying to figure out how to upskill in AI? I almost rage-bought a Udemy course, but I'm scared it's the wrong move for a PM. Then I found this planner tool that builds a custom strategy (l.artics-us.com/us), but it's paid. Feels like I'm stuck between wasting 40 hours on the wrong course, or overthinking it with a planning tool. What did you guys do? Just dive in or map it out first?

Wanted to share a project a buddy of mine (ex-EY) is working on - he’s building a new audit platform that actually looks promising. I’ve seen the beta and it looks like it might just help solve a few headaches auditors deal with, rather than just another AI assistant tool. Keep this on your radar for launch.
