      Side Gigs

      Senior Energy Engineer

I am 74 and on social security. My current "work from home" gig is selling my book collection via Andersons Asimov Books listed and sold on AbeBooks. I listed 300/1300 books and gross about $150 per month. However, researching current prices and entering book data is boring, so I am looking for a second gig. I applied to Mercor to be an AI trainer but have not heard back. Any other ideas? My old skills: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kenneth-john-anderson-pe-19355a

I know this may not be the best forum but I have a question, we know Chase is not the most customer friendly and doesn’t necessarily have the best interest at heart for customers. For insiders, if I got a Sapphire, can I downgrade to a Freedom Unlimited Cash? Am I gonna get pushback or excuses? I appreciate in advance your contribution and again I apologize for posting it here but I know I’d receive better advice than calling customer service.

What’s a Career-Changing Piece of Sales Advice You Heard Too Late? Sometimes one sentence hits harder than an entire training manual. Drop the gems you wish you learned earlier. I’ll go first: anything for rent is for sale (pertaining to real estate). And…. Sales is very emotional, doesn’t matter if they’re spending their own money or someone else’s, you have to connect with them to get them to buy from you.

Chase now officially has "pop up jail" for Sapphire cards. TBD if they expand it to their other cards. 48 month Sapphires and 5/24 no longer hard rules. Separate note, check your emails if you have a CSP/CIP. Some are being targeted for a one-time $50 portal credit (applies at checkout, as opposed to a statement credit). Also CIP now gets DashPass and the $10 monthly non-restaurant credits.

What's a telltale sign, according to you, that you're over sales and ready to pivot into another field? I've been in sales for over 12 years, and along the way, I've lost any zeal or enthusiasm I had for my job. I don't know if another pursuit can save me, or if this is just how the new me is. Please share any similar experiences you've had and how you dealt with them.

Chase recently announced that the Sapphire Reserve card will raise its prices to $795 a year, a significant increase from $550. To try to reduce churn, they sent physical brochures giving an overview of the benefits to existing cardholders. It must be an expensive marketing campaign, but I imagine it’s relatively successful. Do you think this is a good strategy?

Sabrina Carpenter X Johnnie Walker! Looks like all beverages, alcoholic and not, want to be tied up with the popstar. Guess it’s a win for Johnnie Walker, bringing in a fresh, younger audience by associating with one of pop’s fastest-rising stars, and letting the brand break out of the “just for whisky old-timers” box. Thoughts?

Is the Chase Sapphire Reserve card still worth it now that they have increased the annual fee so high? $795 is a lot in my opinion, and I'm not sure if it's an expense I should take up right now, unless you're able to convince me on how the card’s total value can actually outweigh the annual fee.
