      Career Pivot

      Social Worker
      4mo

Hey everyone, I'm currently a LSW (Licensed Social Worker). But, as time is passing by the burnout is real and I'm ready to be done and want to transition into something else. I've seen some social workers go into program management or cybersecurity/computer science. I would like some advice on what careers people have moved onto after social work and how much schooling did you have to do? I want to take some courses on coursera but I'm not sure if employers will see certificates as enough..

I recently lost my full-time job, and got fired from my 2nd job. I been feeling like my life is falling apart. As a person with history of Anxiety, Depression and PTSD it's so hard for me too keep a job lately. My Aunt is a Nurse Practioner and she suggested I file for SSI Disability with my doctors help. I'm looking into it as we speak but I'm also scared because I don't want to feel like I'm limiting myself as a mother. I want to be someone my daughter can look up too. My disorder is winning.

      Career Pivot

I was forced to a career pivot in Aug when I was let go. Now, I've decided on another one. My unemployment runs out end of January, I am enrolled in my state's Medicaid program since the ACA is still up in the air with tax cuts/premium costs, and I've decided to take early SS. This is 2 yrs early and 6 yrs before I would get the highest amount available. But, what I will get is more than I've been surviving on with u/I and I do have an IRA that I haven't touched yet. And I have peace of mind.

      FIRE Financial Independence Retire Early

In the U.S., when planning for FIRE, how do you account for Social Security benefits that begin providing an additional income stream starting in the mid-60s? I was estimating that if my spouse and I continue working until our mid-50s, we could receive around $40K per person annually (in today’s dollars) from Social Security. Using the 4% rule, that equates to roughly $2M in NW for a couple. Many of us may not fully account for in their FIRE planning. What do you think?

Trying to get my foot in the door for cybersecurity. Unfortunately it has been a dead-end, most jobs require x amount of experience, I have an associates degree for criminal justice (prior military/law enforcement). I am in pursuit of my Bachelors' Homeland Security degree, I have knowledge & in cybersec, (ComptiaA+). If there is any guidance on even gaining a response to applications or even a way to gain more credentialing to help landing a job in that field please any guidance is helpful.

I have a contract offer for a Data role at Morgan Stanley (MS), Montreal, but de background check is blocked. I received a U.S. SSN while on F-1/OPT until 2019, but now live abroad & cannot obtain a replacement number from the SSA. the BC vendor insists on the SSN to run de mandatory U.S. criminal check. I have provided the FBI rap sheet to the vendor. Will MS Compliance accept this document to clear the U.S. criminal requirement, or is de offer guaranteed to be cancelled due to missing SSN?

Hi, I have been working in IT for about 3 years total, 6 months now as a SOC analyst making 64k/yr onsite in South Florida. We are doing quite a bit of helpdesk work in our SOC and our management is not very ideal. I have been applying and got an interview for a 75-90k position onsite in South Florida. I have a CompTIA Network+, Security+, A+ and Cisco CCNA and will soon get my BA in CS. I wanted to understand if I am being underpaid for South Florida and for any job advice, thank you.

      The Worklife Bowl

      Senior Director of Compliance Operations
      11mo

Anyone familiar with, works for and/or worked for previously the company named, "Kooth"? I was applying for an open role for Director, Compliance & Privacy and was required to provide my full Social Security number in order to submit my application. I don't know about anyone else, but I will not be submitting my full SSN in an online app. It took 15 minutes to get to that part and I decided that I will not be applying for this role. Their loss, I have 25 years of experience.
