I had a meeting with a manager that I work with and our director, whom we both report in to, to work on our collaboration together due to repeated issues with this. When I gave examples of things I was not looped in on and how this caused downstream effects for our team, she responded "it doesn't resonate with me to let you know." I was shocked at her audacity. Communication in a team is a responsibility whether it comes naturally to you or not.

Does anyone else feel like workplace communication through the chain of command is just an adult version of Telephone? Today, my VP made a group chat with my boss (regional director) and me to ask about a machine I manage. I answered, my boss said one thing, and that was it. Moments later, my boss privately messages me—relaying a note from the VP. The same VP who could’ve just said it in the group chat we were all just in. Make it make sense!!!

In our small company, we all help answer phones. Lately, calls are being transferred without notice. A manager was recently transferred to me without warning; I missed the call and followed up with the employee. I reminded the employee to confirm transfers are received before hanging up, but she was upset. Unfortunately in a small group setting it is difficult as the HR person to keep friends at work, How would you have handled this situation?

This morning, I witnessed the generational divide in real time: one coworker asking for an email, another wanting it dropped in the group chat. It's like we're all speaking different languages in the same office! How is everyone managing this communication chaos without their head exploding? Because I'm over here trying to remember who prefers Teams, who only checks email, and who still leaves Post-it notes on my desk

      Ask A Recruiter - Sales

I just wrapped up an interview today that involved meeting with eight people across several different groups. I'm planning to send a thank you email and am wondering about the best way to address everyone without making the greeting sound awkward. Since I met with each group separately, should I send one combined email to all eight people, or would it be better to send separate thank-you emails to each group or individual?

I’m expecting to be passed along to some partners of a certain group this week. However, a posting was just made for another role at the firm that may be a better fit. I’m considering reaching out to the recruiting team, mentioning I may be speaking with the partners in the other group but asking whether I can be considered for both. Cont’d in comments.

I have an offer for an EM at Sentry vs a Principal Engineer at Harness. The harness offer is in the FME team that came through the split acquisition. I wish to get more insights from Harness as to how is the team doing post-acquisition in terms of attrition, morale, scope of work coming their way and support from Harness leadership. I walked in this morning and heard two very different conversations. One colleague said, "Email me the details." Another said, "Just drop it in the group chat." It made me laugh how every generation at work has its own communication style. How do you keep up with everyone's preferences without losing your mind?

Is it permissible to send a casual email to my old firms clients (that I had an actual relationship with) simply informing them that I moved firms, will continue to practice in the same areas, and provide my contact information? First firm jump so I am unsure. Texas if that matters.
