Just wondering if anyone else here is concerned about the November 1st snap benefit cut off.. Even though I work I don't make enough to really pay all the bills and feed myself and my son... And so I do get the benefits. Now with this cut off I'm just wondering how everybody is planning on making it work for their families. Thankfully I have a bit of a stockpile that I can lean on for a little while. I also volunteer at a local food pantry, so that will help. I just feel bad for others.

Is it possible to get all great snapshots (exceeds expectations/growing, etc) but still get let go after CRTs due to performance? Genuinely confused right now & feel very blindsided. Idk if this is covering up a lay off or if an engagement supervisor can give negative input internally after giving all positive snapshots? Pls lmk if u know of this, idk what to think. If I had negative snapshots or knew im getting bad input, id have applied elsewhere. Wish i knew. i thought my CRT would be a 2

Lately, I’ve been snapping at colleagues over tiny things, forgetting deadlines I’d never have missed before, and waking up at 3am just to check email. I keep telling myself it’s just a rough patch, but honestly? I’m clearly not okay. I’m terrified that if I admit I need a break, I’ll look weak or uncommitted and it’ll hurt my career long-term. How do you know when it’s really time to step back and how do you actually do it without tanking everything you’ve worked for?

Saw this reading my papers this morning ☕️ People are really struggling right now. The job market is almost nonexistent, ppl will forgo insurance bc they can’t pay the premiums, food prices are way high, ppl are losing their SNAP benefits, the list goes. 211 is a general help line http://www.211.org/partner-us Please share with your students, you never know who might use it. Also suicide and crisis lifeline- 988 just a reminder. Thanks everyone 🙏🏼

I’ve officially hit my CoastFI number, which is surreal to even type, but now I’m stuck. I thought I’d feel this huge sense of relief and freedom, but instead I’m afraid to loosen my grip. I could afford to go part-time, travel more, or just breathe, but something in me still thinks I need to keep grinding. I don’t want to burn out, but I also don’t want to regret pulling back too soon. Would you scale down before hitting full FIRE?

I have a question for y'all. The company I work for recently informed us we're going to be doing a shift bid within my department. Because I have a title I'm not included in the shift bid but they still changing my hours noon to 8:45pm. If I step down which is a pay cut I then could be included in the shift bit and I have seniority in the office. Money is already really tight. What would you do?

I once found my shift manager crouched by the stockroom, trying to unjam the door with a butter knife he stole from the breakfast station. I showed up with real tools, and he froze like I’d caught him breaking into his own store. We laughed so loud guests wandered over. That ridiculous moment pulled me closer to the team and, somehow, became the story he quoted when recommending me for my next step up.

I had a patient last night who was hostile from the moment I walked in. I did everything I could to keep them comfortable, but they kept snapping at me for no reason. I know it isn't about me and shouldn't take it personally, but it still wears you down after twelve hours. How do you all keep from taking that home with you? I’m having a rough time trying to shake this one off.

It’s funny just how well our intuition can work. Got a Hinge like from a guy who works at the same small-ish government agency as my bestie’s sister. Cute guy, decent profile, but I just had this hunch… texted her and DING DING DING! he is married. 🤦‍♀️ Welp, now this info along with my screenshots are circulating allll around that office. Enjoy the shitty karma, pal.

Most of my team is back in the office full time, but I'm still remote. I found out recently that they've been making snap decisions at each other's desks and forgetting to update Slack. I keep finding out about changes way after the fact. Would I be a jerk if I asked them to document everything so those of us at home stay in the loop?
