      Ask A Recruiter - Tech

      Engineer
      11mo

I had a serendipitous meeting with the Director of Talent Acquisition for a company that I consider my northstar. I went up to her and expressed my interest and she said she feels good about me and would like to meet me for a chat. This was on a Friday afternoon, so she scheduled it for the following Monday. She pushed it twice since then and then said she would reach back to me when she has more time. A week from then, I followed up again with some ideas I had for the company and reminded her I'm still keen. Did I push it? Where is the line with following up and being proactive?

Is it out of line to ask plainly what your track to partnership is? I was hired at my firm 3 years ago when I was in my 9th year of practice. I was promised a partnership track and strong upward trajectory. At my review in December I got massively positive feedback and a HUGE raise. But I still somehow have a hard time getting assigned decent work and likewise I feel like I get drastically less involvement from partners than other associates get (no I’m not antisocial). Currently VP (post-MBA) at AlixPartners and interested in PE ops in 3-5 years. 1) How to go about getting traction? Eg which practices should I be associated with (eg PE, TMT); which functional specializations (eg M&A, org transformation, ops)? 2) Which types of funds should I target and how to get noticed by those? I’m trending towards mega funds (eg Blackstone, KKR, Bain, Silver Lake) as I’d expect better comp, steadier demand for my work and more exciting assignments (large cap companies)

Any one out there regret going the PE ops route post consulting? MBB AP with an exit opportunity at a LMM fund. I’ll get equity and some carry. Main issue I’m dealing with is this is going to be turn-around work in LMM, weekly travel and an absolute grind. I like the fund team, limited clarity on exec team. Comp would be ok, not amazing. I have some really solid corp strategy offers as well - no travel, high cash comp (low equity upside obviously), in industries I’m excited about.

I was wondering if anyone knows this company, as the role is not clear, what they offer and I can't see Case studies on their website https://targetstrategies.co.uk Is this a scam or a company I should be careful about?

Secondary tape vs Public Comps: The spread is finally starting to make sense again. Seeing a lot of movement in Databricks and Stripe as they clean up balance sheets for a potential late '26 exit. If you’re looking for exposure but can’t justify a six-figure single name ticket, we’re bundling $10k allocations into institutional SPVs. It’s basically a way to play the IPO cycle with 1/10th the capital. Who else is tracking the current secondary bids for the Big Five right now?

      Salaries in STEM

      Substation Engineer
      5mo

I am looking for some advice. I am a power systems/substation engineer that works in the Wisconsin/Upper MI border area. I have 4 Y.O.E and I make just under 92k currently (base) and I just recently got my PE License. Does that seem like a good number for without the PE? I have done my research and have found the average for a raise for a PE is 15%-25% salary increase. Do any of the more seasoned engineers have any insight?

Recently got accepted into Kellogg’s PT MBA program. Anyone who attended willing to connect? Looking to use this as an opportunity to pivot to either MBB or IB, currently at a T2 consulting firm. Unfortunately can’t do FT due to personal commitments. If anyone was able to make the switch and was in a similar position, would love to connect.
