I just spent the morning cleaning up a data set that a ChatGPT plugin finished in thirty seconds, and I’ve never felt more replaceable. If my primary value add to this firm is being an Excel monkey, I’m basically a horse watching the first car drive by in 1908. I’m trying to pivot to strategy, but honestly, what strategy does a 24-year-old have that an LLM trained on 20 years of deal data doesn't? Are we the last generation who actually need to know how to build a model from scratch?

      FIRE Financial Independence Retire Early

Looking for advice from those further along than I. Early 30s Couple with 1 baby. ~2M liquid. ~500k HHI. Should I take a step back to a ~300k/year exit or continue to grind up to MD (800k+). Mathematically I should continue to MD, because number bigger = good, but unsure if the ending point of $10M+ is a different endpoint than $5M and the lifestyle will be worse than the exit from a balance standpoint. Looking for advice on trade off.

      Amazon Hiring Practices

I posted this in conversations but I think this is the more appropriate forum. I completed my Amazon loop and have been upleveled to L6. My feedback was very positive and my recruiter and I are now working on finding the right match. I I have a plan and want to move quickly, keep the momentum going, and get to work. Has anyone had this experience? What would you recommend, so that I can keep momentum going and make this happen? Thanks!

      Consulting Exit Opportunities

      Manager

Hi all, weighing 2 exits. For all intents and purposes the salaries are the same. Job 1 is with a top 10 bank doing tech strategy for payments and wholesale. Some exposure to exec leadership and promotion upside. Job 2 is a middle market bank, but leading digital strategy, high level of executive exposure across the bank, and strong promotion potential. WLB would probably be better in job 1. Anyone have thoughts here?

I am on a project where the client keeps asking for a long-term roadmap, but internally they still change priorities every week depending on who spoke loudest in the last meeting. It feels impossible to build strategy when the ground keeps shifting underneath it. How do you create something useful when the organization itself is not stable enough to follow it?

How many offers did you juggle to get your current TC? Leverage is your best friend. Don't just settle for one "yes." A peer had a solid $150k offer. Instead of signing, he used it to push a second firm. They didn't just match it; they jumped to $170k and tossed in a $20k signing bonus to "seal the deal." That’s $40k gained just by having an alternative.

Struggling to make a choice between offers and looking for some advice. Would you move to strategy& but with a very small team and potentially struggle with type of projects you get to work on or move to value creation team at Baringa which is a relatively smaller firm? I don’t know enough about the culture there Strategy& Baringa Partners

Anyone at (or has previously worked at) A&M PEPI? In the process and would appreciate any feedback around culture and perceived WLB. Know it’s not a 9-5 but want to gain a better understanding of individual experience with the practice (e.g., is it closer to LEK or Big 4 strategy?)… don’t want to waste anyone’s time if it’s the former

Would you all rather: 1. take a 15K pay cut to move to a better WLB firm, healthier work culture that's along term stay 2. take a 15K pay bump to move to a harsh WLB firm (MBB hours and grind) Stuck between these two offers and not sure what to go after. Both have clear pros and cons.
