Hello everyone, I’m currently working in IT Support and would love to hear from others in the field. I handle tasks like resolving technical issues, managing networks, troubleshooting servers, and supporting users with daily IT needs. I’m always looking to improve and grow — what tools, tips, or practices have helped you the most in your role? Also, how do you stay up to date with the latest in IT support and networking? Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences and advice!

      Salaries in Tech

      IT Support Technician
      6mo

I’m an IT technician for a retail business with 50+ sites in the East Midlands, handling multi‑site hardware, software, networking, POS, AD, Microsoft 365, Power Automate workflows, Configuring and maintaining POS systems, card payment devices, printers, tablets, CCTVs, etc. Action1 monitoring and deployment and NetSuite product/pricing updates, plus on‑site visits. I earn £25,500 (37.5h/week). For UK 1st/2nd‑line or IT support engineers, does this seem underpaid, and what range is realistic?

It's like my job has been phased out. I was a support specialist and a technical support specialist but it seems like all those roles now roll up into tier one which I am not. Can anybody help me please? I know that a lot of people are in the same boat as me, but I'm looking for advice

Hello all - Ive been working in IT Support in for the last 2-3 years in Aus working towards a Cyber Security role. However over the past 3-6 months I have lost interest in the pathway. I’ve been thinking about switching to a software engineering or devops pathway and I have a few questions: What education will I need to switch from an IT ops role to software? What resources can help me with this possible pivot? What cons should I be aware of regarding a Software Engineer and Dev Ops role?

I'm 37, quite experienced, and just left an IT manager role at a company that is known for insane toxcity and turnover. It seems like "IT" has changed to "tech" and that the jobs increasingly want less experienced people. I'm fine with that - highly maliable - my drive is to take care of my wife and daughter and constantly evolve, even if it means taking a step back. Does anyone have any opportunities they can share? I just want to work. Long Island or NYC.

Hello everyone, I am an early-career graduate looking for opportunities in the IT industry. As I am new to this country, I am still building my professional network, and the job search has been difficult. If anyone could offer guidance, share advice, or point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. I am trying my best but have not been able to figure out what mistakes I may be making in my applications or approach. Any help would mean a lot. Thank you.

Hello, I’m Daniel Catone, seeking entry-level IT roles (remote or onsite). I completed a 14-week program with Merit America, earning the Google IT Support Certificate and four others. I’ve gained strong foundational skills in troubleshooting and support and am eager to grow in the tech field. While I’ve had a few interviews, I’m still looking for an opportunity to prove myself and build a long-term career. Any leads or advice would be greatly appreciated!

My spouse stormed out of the house because I said "Maybe don't look at Indeed on your company laptop" and they were like "it's a small company" and I was like "monitoring software is pretty common now as you have a 3rd party IT provider service some form of monitoring is likely to be on there" (they left the workforce to be a primary care giver for 7 years) and apparently that is the straw that broke my marriage before 8A central.

Hello all, I currently work within one of the local hospitals as security. I have been wanting to make the leap and try to get into the IT field. Currently I have only the Coursera "Google IT Support" certificate. I know I will need to get more certificates, which is why I'm working at the hospital. Does anyone have any suggestions on which certs would be good for me to get so I can become a better candidate for positions in this field?
