      The Worklife Bowl

      Solutions Engineer
      5mo

My company gives about 120 hours of PTO/year. I haven't taken a vacation since I started (15-16 months ago). I've only taken 20 hours of PTO this year, for family needs. I work weekends, nights, and was just promoted. I just put in for 5 days (40 hours) of PTO (Dec. 24, 26, and Dec. 29, 30, and 31). I just want to take a break, be with my family, and get ready for 2026. My boss just messaged me, "high performing teams don't have the mindset of using all of their PTO." How would you respond?

I am actively seeking opportunities in Recruitment and TA. Tailoring my resume to JD, networking on LinkedIn, and applying to relevant positions, I have faced challenges with auto-rejections and lack of responses. I bring over 10 years of ex in recruitment and TA from home country and am currently volunteering to stay engaged in the field while continuing my job search in Canada. I would greatly appreciate any advice, referrals, or guidance from this community. Thanks in advance https://www.linkedin.com/in/neha-pashine-a730b19b

Hey all — hope this is okay to post here. I’m running the Boston Marathon as part of Team USO to raise money for the USO, which I’m sure has touched most of us here in one way or another. My campaign just went live this morning and is currently sitting at a big $0, so if it’s a cause you support, I’d really appreciate any help getting started. Doxing myself since my name’s on there — and for any of you at PwC who’d normally say “use the Dollars for Racers match,” I was laid off last month. Boo!

TSMC has been hit with a class action lawsuit for it's toxic work environment and racist practices (Anti-blackness). No surprise at the news. I've applied to multiple roles over the years and didn't recieve one interview request. With 26 years of experience, 10 years in Big4 consulting, you'd think I'd at least get an interview, but hearing the news of the lawsuit tells me everything I need to know. For people of color, don't waste your time applying to this God awful company.

NOAH Staged COO Search. Ghosted. Tribal Funds Wasted. LinkedIn’s top-ranked COO candidate, I was used to legitimize a fake hiring process—while a fitness studio owner with *zero* healthcare experience was preselected. \$25K+ in tribal funds wasted. Ghosted post-interview. IRS & DOL complaints filed. Retaliation followed. Patients lose when politics trump competence. **Resign. Repay grants. Apologize.** #HealthcareCorruption #NonprofitFail #TribalJustice

Looking to connect with TA and People leaders across the New York space. I recently relocated to South Florida after several years leading Talent Acquisition in healthcare in the UK, and am now exploring remote opportunities where I can support scaling teams from a TA leadership perspective. If you’re building, or know organisations investing in their hiring function, I’d genuinely value the connection.

I am considering recruiting with Houlihan Lokey for their TAS practice. Was curious if anyone had insights into what TAS looks like for them in terms of pay, WLB, culture, etc. I see a lot on here about them from the past year but I’m curious from those who actually work at Houlihan. I’ve got a while before I would jump ship from where I currently am, I’m just wondering for the future.

I recently rolled out a flexible PTO policy and faced way more resistance than I expected. How do you handle pushback from managers who resist new HR initiatives or policies? I'm trying to figure out fond effective ways to get buy-in from teams that are set in their ways. I’m curious to hear what’s worked for others when it comes to shifting such entrenched mindsets.
