      Job Hunting in Tech

      ZEESHAN SHANI

Hello there, I am a self taught data scientist with skills in ML & upskilling in GenAI as of now. I have also worked as an intern business analyst at a pharmaceutical company where I worked primarily with sales data. However, I am finding it increasingly difficult to land a job in data analytics or data science domain. Nevertheless, I am exploring the world of finance and applied data analytics and predictive modelling. I would greatly appreciate any tip, learning path, or project.

Hi guys my first time posting on this space, I’m a data analyst and I’m feeling like I may have picked a wrong path to study and why I’m saying this is simply because I’m terrible at maths, I’m more of a communication expert but I have learnt the tools necessary to succeed in this field but I’ve been finding it hard getting any roles related to data analysis so I’m here to ask guys pls I need your advice should I transition into a different field or should I keep at it until I become good at it

Hi there! I just finished university and I’m really into machine learning, but I’m confused about whether to focus my career on AI or Data Science. I’ve explored AI, but a lot of the learning content overlaps with Data Science, which makes it hard to decide. Both fields seem exciting and have a strong future, but I want to choose the path that gives me the best career opportunities as a fresh graduate. I’d really appreciate advice from people in the industry who have been through this.

Hello All, I'm new to this group. I currently work as a sales associate at an industrial tool company and want to make a career switch. After many assessments and research, I've settled on a career as a data analyst for the long term. Could anyone advise me on the ideal pathway to become a DA and what tech skills to learn and preferably any resources? I can't afford to go back to school full-time but I'm looking out for online courses and certifications. Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA

      Career Advice for Students

Just finished 'Data Science for Business' by Foster Provost & Tom Fawcett. What stood out most is its business-first approach to analytics, based on an NYU MBA course and real-world decision scenarios. A key insight: the biggest risk in analytics isn’t using the wrong model, but solving the wrong business problem. The book reinforces starting with decision clarity and translating insights into actions leaders trust. A great read for anyone building a business analytics mindset.

Chemist with Mining Edge From the lab bench to the leach pads, I’ve built my career on turning data into decisions. I thrive where science meets industry: troubleshooting instruments, crunching numbers in Excel or Power BI, and keeping OHS standards front and center. Now I’m looking to apply this blend of scientific rigor and operational know‑how in mining engineering, metallurgy, or process optimization roles — helping teams drive efficiency, safety, and innovation

Currently working in data science consulting with ~3YOE and very much interested in making the pivot over to a data science team at a PE firm working on both DD and with portCos. I had about 7 rounds of interviews with a UMM before they gave the job to someone with more experience unfortunately so i definitely have the skillset but just don’t know where to look for more opportunities. Would appreciate any leads!
