Hello, seeking educational advice/wisdom. Currently have children in a parochial school in lower elementary and generally pleased. The school goes up to eight grade, but we hear academics aren’t extremely challenging especially starting in middle school. Do we consider a switch to a private, all girls non-religious school (more than $30k per year in price) in fifth grade or wait until high school? Will an “elite” school like this catch the child up academically if we wait until high school?

Why hasn’t the classroom model changed? There should be two teachers in the classroom. I’m shocked at the expectations put on one person. With 20+ kids in the classroom, why aren’t two qualified adults in the room administering lessons, managing behaviors etc? One teacher was sufficient 50+ years ago where most students had manageable behaviors. However, that’s not the case now. We wonder why the education system is failing.Does anyone know of any schools that use two educators per classroom?

Hi everyone, I'm a teacher looking to move out of teaching.... I've done a ton of research on the switch out of teaching, but ....wow! Daunting. After 25 years of teaching (over ten in international schools) I'm maybe ready to just answer phones! Write reports! Do research! So many choices that I simply can't get my head wrapped around to look for anything. Can anyone share how they narrowed down the switch to a job they love now and never would have thought of doing it? Thank you in advance

My department all have our classrooms right next door to each other this year and wanted to take advantage of that. We have an idea for escape room stations that would be divided up among the classrooms and students would rotate through. I was curious if anyone else has attempted a similar activity with students moving from one classroom to another, or has any ideas for Best Practices to keep the activity running smoothly. We hope to use this review as a test run for a future Hamilton lesson.

Hello there.... I am a "career transitioning teacher." I am leaving the educational world after 17 years. I plan to transition my skills as a seasoned teacher into a Success Coach/Trainer for the Business world. I am exploring opening a Micro School, as it just seems that with the state of the educational system right now, smaller more focused learning is what will help our younger students grow into the productive global economy we now call life. How are you guys doing?

Career pivot step one: Translate skills. A teacher has classroom management skills, lesson planning, communication, and subject area expertise.Translated: classroom management = group leadership, facilitation, public speaking. Lesson planning = daily operations forecasting, time management, curriculum design and development. Parent and staff communication? Communication and coordination with stakeholders, colleagues, and leadership. Translate your skills to the vocabulary of your new industry.

My son will be in 5th grade this fall, and I’m thinking of moving intra-state in MA next year post-5th grade for his middle and high schools. We’re currently living in Arlington, which is a good school district but wanted to explore my options. Goal is to get him to a STEM-oriented school (he LOVES engineering stuff) and to land in good colleges. Open to thoughts around 1) recommended cities/ towns with good school and OK rent price; and 2) experience wrt child adaption when moving around

It should not take snaps, claps, music, phrases, and tunes to get students to pay attention. The attention span of these kids is a -0. “Please get out your books and turn to page 12” has now turned to Clap, once, clap twice. Level O, get ready set: open up your books to page 12 (repeat twice) because if you repeat once you’re only going to get about half the class ready. After that there’s still going to be 5 staring into space, with no book in sight. It’s exhausting. Am I alone in this?

I want to start a charter school upstate, NY. What grades do you all think will serve the community best. The idea is incorporate have halal food, Arabic language and Middle East studies. No prayers allowed during school time because state vs religion issue. Also 4 days or 5 days with early Friday dismissal?. Will Possibly offer after school activities program for the actual Islamic studies/quran/etc if there is demand. I’m leaning High school, but not sure how much impact/change can it have

I've been given the belief that I'll be able to 'fit in' to my current job, that being a teacher here in the UK. My specialisms are within the Fine Art field, especially Sculpture. I am trained in technologies AND trades that seem to be "dying out". I've compromised my standards and assumed I am understood to be a valuable member of a school community, but I find some members of staff/adults I work with to be horrifically ill equipped and will not socialise with them in my free time. Help?
