On my movie watch list - The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist is a deeply personal documentary that explores the existential crossroads of artificial intelligence. The film is framed through Roher’s own journey into fatherhood; as he prepares to welcome his first child, he is gripped by "AI insanity" and the dire warnings that the technology could either save or end humanity. Salaries in Healthcare

I just applied for a job and the confirmation email included this line: “We may use artificial intelligence tools to support parts of the hiring process… These tools assist our Talent team but do not replace human judgment. All hiring decisions are made by humans.” I’m not anti AI but AI deciding who is worth meeting? That still feels like a very human responsibility. Curious where others land on this. Where do you think AI adds value in hiring, and where does it start getting in the way?

      Interview Tips

      Manager
      1mo

Being interviewed by AI still feels strange to me, but it happened last week. I tend to perform better in environments where I can think, clarify, and adapt in real time. An AI-driven interview is all about prompts and fake digital reassurance signs. Just wondering if it's more appropriate to call it a monologue or a soliloquy. If the goal is to identify real capability and consistent delivery, do you think that an AI-led interview is doing anything right?

I keep thinking how AI is going to force alot of people to become entrepreneurs and make money independently. Productivity will improve in every professional services/ administrative job, require fewer people and push people out. Other fields cant support the supply of labor. Our culture has become accustomed to a career tractory or path for so long that I think that correction is going to be incredibly painful. Most of us show up, do a thing, and get paid.

What are people seeing and hearing about how AI will impact the work that we do, whether it’s consulting, planning, or risk and review functions? I cannot see how it would have as big an impact as in the compliance space. I have been pretty underwhelmed by my experience with internal and external AI tools, but I’m also early enough in my career that I don’t want to bury my head in the sand. Anyone have thoughts about the current or future state of AI tools?

Are parts of your job already being automated? How many here are out of jobs because of AI or got jobs because of AI?

      The Water Cooler

      Japanese Translator

I have been looking for translation work in Japanese (not interpretation work) for a while and AI has made it worse. I look for anything in the field and it's only interpretation or the job requires additional certs like passing the bar. Do I give up and just work crap jobs with a BA that I worked so hard on? Will AI just be taking over and putting everyone out of a job? Things seem hopeless.

I’ve been reading about how big chains like McDonald’s, Chipotle, and Yum Brands are going all-in on AI. Everything from predicting when fryers will break down to drive-thru voice bots and scheduling tools. On paper, it sounds great. But I can’t help wondering what this means for workers in the long run. Does AI actually make our jobs easier? Would you want AI in your restaurant?

I am applying a job now, and in the job description, it highlighted AI use. I am curious on how much emphasis I should give on AI use. Have you been asked about AI during interviews? Are employers looking for actual hands-on experience with AI tools, or just awareness? Do you think AI knowledge is becoming a differentiator for legal candidates?
