GIMS Sanction - has anyone had any issues with holding a S&S ISA account in Invest Engine ? It was not listed on my GIMS and it was recorded in my Personal Independence record but the individual ETFs were not. So it’s flagged a non compliance and I’ve had an email saying they are investigating and waiting to hear back on what sanction I’ll be given. How bad is this situation ? About £20K in it and passive ETF funds mostly that I just overlooked importing into GIMS. Has been there for 2 years.

Any ideas on how to transition out of ESG and sustainability finance/investing? Currently in the UK right now, and unfortunately the industry seems to have really slowed down on hiring and prospects. How can I translate my experience into a more transferable one for more generalised roles? I would be willing to take a slight salary hit if that means transitioning to an industry with a lot more growth prospects and stability. Maybe in policy or research roles? Any advice would be valuable!

Hi! I’m currently an in-house counsel at a bank, focused on consumer banking matters. I’m interested in pivoting to a more specialised AML Legal role (either within financial crime legal or broader advisory). Would love to hear from anyone who’s made a similar transition or currently works in AML Legal! Grateful if you could share - what was your path into the space? - what skills or certification helped the most? Appreciate any thoughts or experiences you’re willing to share, thanks!

Has anyone here actually made a successful pivot into ESG or sustainability work? I keep seeing job titles like ESG Reporting Manager and Sustainability Analyst, and it feels like a space where accounting skills might be useful. But I also don’t want to jump into something that’s all talk. Is ESG a legit career path for accountants, or is it just the latest round of corporate greenwashing? And if it is legit, where do you even start?

I’d love to hear from EAs who support a founding or managing partner in a national law firm environment. Do you enjoy the role overall? What expectations surprised you most once you started, and are there things you wish you had clarified earlier in the interview process? I’ve heard these roles can become very high intensity, so I’d appreciate insight from those with firsthand experience supporting senior legal leadership. Thank You.

Q for Big 4 folks and any employment/immigration attorneys here: An EY recruiter asked for my friend’s EAD category after he confirmed unrestricted work authorization and no sponsorship needs. My read is this goes beyond what 8 USC §1324b permits, since the category discloses protected characteristics (type of status, basis of authorization). Curious whether (a) this is common practice at EY, (b) whether anyone has successfully pushed back

Hi, I will be hiring my first EA soon to help clear up my time to more executive-level work. I’ve shared a few EAs with other colleagues before, usually for scheduling meetings, taking notes, and some ad hoc requests. I’m wondering from all the EAs in here that support CoS/COO type roles, what responsibilities have you been given or tasks you’ve taken on that has helped the exec team immensely.

Two A&O Shearman partners, David Esseks and Gene Ingoglia, have left the firm’s New York office to set up their own litigation boutique. Writing on LinkedIn, Esseks said the firm – known as Esseks Ingoglia – would specialise in trials, high-stakes litigation, investigations and white-collar defence. Both Esseks and Ingoglia are former federal prosecutors who have around two decades of private practice experience.
