      Career Advice for Students

      Founder
      6mo

I've seen few posts about students being unsure with what to do next in their career. Just want to tell you, your degree doesn't define you, your first job doesn't dictate your entire career path and lastly, every skill you learn in transferable in a way. I had a hard time at the beginning of my career and wish I had something to help me. I decided to just build it. It's called Path AI (on App Store), it helps you explore various career paths and get a roadmap to get there. Hope it helps!

I worked as a trainer for a trucking company. I facilitated in-class training and managed continuous learning by creating PPTs and uploading MP4 videos to an LMS. I do not have formal training in instructional design or a college degree, but want to pursue this career. I'm working on learning Articulate and upskilling with other multi media and editing tools, and brushing up on learning methodologies. My concern is the lack of the degree. I have 6+ years experience, but will that be enough?

Heard two coworkers debating which AI skills are actually worth learning — one said “just learn everything,” the other said “focus on what fits you.” It got me thinking because I’d been randomly taking courses too. I ended up using this site that analyzed my profile and suggested AI areas that actually match my strengths (ai-career.quiz-us.com/career). Focused on those for a few months and landed a new role that boosted my salary by about $20K. Best conversation I’ve ever overheard tbh.

I have entered into the world of Data last year and till now it has been a vast and rich experience of learning and keep growing. Although this field has never ending learning and it's evolving andupdate structure keeps you busy remaining and staying in this place, I really find it difficult to get internship opportunity to polish my skills. There are several platforms that give you data to work on, build your portfolio, and get into the insights of real world problems but not in companies.

I had a virtual interview where I nodded like I understood every single question, I was smiling, responding, trying to stay composed. But the moment the call ended, I opened a dozen tabs to Google half of what was said. We really don’t talk enough about learning as you go. Sometimes you are not unprepared, you are just in an unfamiliar territory, figuring it out one search bar at a time. What is something you only figured out after you started / you were in the middle of it?

I'm 24, a Software Engineering grad, and I genuinely love this stuff. I’m solid with WordPress, to Front-end. I’m currently grinding through Full Stack, but I’m exhausted. I’m not even chasing a paycheck I just want an internship to learn. But when every "entry" role demands an expert, it feels like I’m stuck in an infinite loop of learning without a door to walk through. It feels like a never-ending loop of learning without a chance to actually apply it.

I just learned that, 43 million adults in America are functionally illiterate; they cannot perform simple tasks like reading a prescription drug label or understanding simple forms. I think we can agree that it’s in the home where kids get their most basic skill development such as in the area of language. And, we know that ‘Language’ development is literally the bedrock of reading development. cont

My learning experience in ASG Platform was both challenging and valuable. I joined with little actual software development experience, but I learned a lot through handling projects, doing proper research, and solving problems independently. AI tools helped a lot, but I also learned to question outputs and think critically. At the same time, the environment can be stressful due to pressure, expectations, and fast-paced work.

When I started my career, opening a complex Excel workbook used to make me break out in a sweat. These days, I actually look forward to diving into large datasets and tackling tricky formulas. It’s funny how the things that once scared us can become our biggest strengths. Is there a tool or skill at work that used to intimidate you, but now feels like second nature? How did you get past the learning curve?
