I’ve got one student this year who has something to say every time I speak. They interrupt, jump in with answers before anyone else can think, and dominate every discussion. It’s not malicious, but it’s starting to affect the class vibe. Other students are backing off, and I can tell some are zoning out because they feel like there’s no room for their voices. I don’t want to squash this kid’s enthusiasm, but I also want to create space for everyone. How do you strike that balance? What’s worked for you when one voice starts taking up too much space?

      Ask A Recruiter - Sales

I have had five interviews the last six weeks and hadn’t gotten feedback from any of them. So I emailed the recruiters who contacted me or left voicemails for HR for the companies. “Hi, this is xxxxx. I interviewed with xxxx last Monday. He told me I’d hear something by the end of the week. It’s been almost two weeks and I haven’t heard anything. What is the status?” If a few more days go by and I still don’t hear anything I’ll follow up by emailing or with a voicemail that it seems unprofession

GRUNTLED. Q: What does it take Fish Friends? To be gruntled. For me it’s plenty of family time. Shooting hoops with my kids on a Tuesday with EDM music playing; wife who thinks I show a spirit of generosity and gratitude. THEN advising influential leaders who are in the news. Helping leaders amplify their positive impact. Next, friends and health and mentoring and other social impact stuff. That’s it. We live. We die. Everything in between is within your freedom of choice. Be gruntled,Fishes.

I've only volunteered in school or at church cafe's, bookstores, and even fundraisers' events. It takes me a while to catch on because of brain / health issues but it challenges my voice to gradually become louder as it has been recovering over the last 16 years. My vocal chords were damaged due to an airtube in my throat for too long, after an accident from a car wreck, which damaged them completely to the point where my voice was gone! I also had experience in housekeeping, office paperwork.

Is PEPI recruiting unusually slow or should I just assume silence means rejection? Context - I submitted my application and HR initiated an outreach in Jan 2026. I did my HR screen about 12 days ago and there has been pin drop silence from the recruiter's end. I messaged on Jobvite (as I don't have their email) and no response from their end. They did tell me that they would get back in a week but just want to be sure. Have been formally referred by an employee in the same PEPI group.

I was told by my manager that I’m often too quiet during meetings. However, these meetings are packed with big personalities who don’t allow anyone else to get a word in, so what am I supposed to do? If I’m willing to agree with everything being said, I might get a chance to say two or three words, but that would be it. Instead of telling me I’m too quiet, why doesn’t my manager ask these dominating personalities to leave room for the rest of us?

Hey Ladies- I just wanted to reach out and say thank you to whoever recommended The Egg Whisperer podcast! I always hit an emotional low as my 2ww comes to a close and I reflect on my age, knowing I have to do more work with my clinic, my friends lives passing me by- but this podcast is so positive and informative. It gave me a bump I really needed tonight. I’m honestly so grateful for a lot of the advice and recommendations I’ve gotten in this bowl.

I get teased a lot for having a slightly different voice when I make my outreach calls. Isn't it obvious that we're not going to sound the same and will be putting on a certain character to deal with these people? As someone in their first year working in this field, it's very discouraging to be mocked about this, but I want to ignore them and keep doing my best. What do the people on the bowl think? Do you have this 'fake voice' too?

I attended a team meeting today focused on our goals for the upcoming quarter, and it was inspiring to see everyone’s enthusiasm. However, I felt some voices weren’t being heard, specially those in a lower positions. I feel this affecting my mental wellbeing. It’s vital to have an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts. Have you ever experienced the same? How did you approach it?

Two of the coworkers I sit near are always talking about personal stuff like sexual preferences, their marriages etc, which I kind of wish I wasn't able to hear so clearly... and I don't know if I should tell them to lower their volume because I'm privy to some of their conversation or just let it be. I feel I would make them super conscious if I do, but it also feels wrong to hear it all and not say anything. What would you do?
