Can you train yourself to need less sleep?
How late is too late to be sending emails to the team? Sometimes I'm working later into the evening and send out emails so I don't forget. I'm sending these emails to the team's work emails and I've made it clear I don't expect responses until the next day. But sometimes people still complain. Just turn off your notifications when you leave work. What's the big deal?
I’ve been working remotely 98% of the time since the pandemic started. I changed firms 3 years ago to one more local so I could go in sometimes and found that I was happier, more engaged, etc when going in. I did well for 6ish months then fell back into the loop of rolling out of bed, turning on music and starting working at home then never going in despite knowing I need the scenery change/interaction. I’m a director so it’s kind of a bad look. Any tips on how to motivate myself to go in?
Does anyone else feel like PA is just a series of partners pulling up the ladder behind them? First it’s my firm getting rid of promotion from SM to partner, now they’re saying they’re reducing promotions from manager to SM. So we get to work long hours for mid to decent salaries, trash bonuses, and uncertain if any long term pay off. I would quit to industry immediately but honestly industry job market/salaries are high key ass
Who in the hell thought open floor office plans were a good idea? We were pulled from our WFH setups to work in an open floor plan. There is no privacy and I can hear everyone's conversations. It's so hard to focus. Not to mention the smells. Everyone's perfumes, colognes, and lunches merge together and the air is so toxic. How is this setup supposed to improve our productivity?
Does anyone here have student loan debt? If so, how much? How old are you, and how long have you been in public accounting? PwC EY KPMG Deloitte
Yes. Have a newborn.
Don’t think so, they call it sleep debt for a reason. Have to pay it back some time
It depends on your lifestyle. Ever since I started working out and eating healthy, my sleep is better and I need less of it.
Yea I agree with this. It won’t eliminate your need for sleep, but if you have a healthier lifestyle, your quality of sleep will improve, then you won’t need quite as much sleep to get the same amount of quality
not sure. Just happens naturally by virtue of necessity some times
u need REM for brain recovery, and deep delta sleep for human growth hormone.
I have a theory that if you consistently sleep for less hours for a few nights in a row then you will get the same amount of high quality deep sleep as someone who sleeps more hours. I found that when I was sleeping less hours I fell asleep faster and felt more refreshed than when I slept a full night. Just personal experience. Don’t know if there is any science to support it.
Yes but it ain't healthy lol
Look up polyphasic sleep, particularly the uberman routine. Not sure how effective it is but peoplw anecdotally claim the benefits
