My firm has us under a PTO freeze through September. Says the workload is too heavy and no PTO requests during this time will be honored. We can't even put in vacation requests until this freeze ends. How is this legal?

I'm sending these emails to the team's work emails and I've made it clear I don't expect responses until the next day. But sometimes people still complain. Just turn off your notifications when you leave work. What's the big deal?
