Stay in an IC role? Or jump to people management? Goal is to make as much as possible while also being valuable in the market. I feel like the managerial path tends to devalue ones experience as they become less technical over time. Are those feelings valid?
I spent a long time thinking moving into management was the obvious next step in a sales career, and then watched several of the best reps I knew become mediocre managers almost overnight, which made me rethink the whole ladder. How do you think about career growth in sales, and does your company have a real path for individual contributors who don’t want to manage people?
I was laid off this morning because of corporate restructuring. If I immediately start working for a competing business in the same city, can I get in trouble? I need to pay my bills, and they let me go, so I feel like I should be able to work wherever I can find a job. I don't remember signing an NDA or non-compete, but I want to make sure I won't face other legal issues. Can I get sued for taking a job with a direct competitor?
How does your PIP process work? Been told by a few people on here and IRL that our PIP is quite aggressive. So i've been the top performer here for a year. Highest win rate in the team (40%). Had a really bad Q2 out of nowhere (inbound leads completely dried up too which hasn't helped at all), will finish on probs 40%. My activity is usually the highest for outreach. I'm going on PIP in July. Is this normal? Some people have told me 2 Qs in a row then PIP, but 1 bad Q is very harsh.
My company just did a massive round of layoffs, and I’m panicking a little. I’ve been here a month and watched our team shrink from 12 to 5. They let all four new SDRs go in this round, and it feels like I’m next on the list. Is this typical when a company overhires? I’m already in touch with another recruiter, but I wonder if I should just leave now. What would you do?
I heard from my friend that they do
