Looking back, which manager had the biggest influence on you? For me, it was my first one right out of high school. What stood out wasn’t just her kindness, but the way she trusted me, corrected me honestly when I made mistakes, & treated me as someone capable of more. She was very intellectual, & conversations pushed me to think differently. She challenged me in many ways. That experience shaped how I think about good leadership, trust, and long term influence. I am who I am because of her ❀️

When I was a junior developer, my teammates started calling me β€œThe Guru” because I always volunteered to fix random bugs and explain messy code. It was flattering, but it also made interviews tricky later, because recruiters assumed I was at a senior level. That experience taught me how easily perception and titles can blur in tech. Have you ever had a nickname at work that did not match your actual role or experience?

During my evening instagram scroll I saw that Lenovo booked Alesso for their corporate event. I am so jealous that is so fun. My company doesn’t do anything fun like that. Does yours? Who’s the coolest artist or person you were able to meet for work? For reference, here’s the video. I’ll be listening to 2010s EDM for the rest of the night now!: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTRxsNZAfUW/?igsh=aTFrZWs0czJnNmRl

Went to a conference today and realized I was the least impressively dressed of the whole panel. I don't know much about fashion so I stick to plain colored shirts and black pants. I sometimes wear a blazer but the rest of the people were dressed to the nines. Where would you send a man like me to up his style game? I don't like shopping so a one-stop shop would be perfect for me.

What's your take on Alex Hormozi? Guy just sold $80M worth of books in a weekend with his launch of $100M Money Models. He's the most followed entrepreneur on social, and is a killer in marketing. In my opinion, he's absolutely legit. I've listened to a bunch of podcasts of his, and I read his first book which is really good. Comes off as authentic, and straight to the point. It's refreshing

I’ve been on teams where it’s really obvious who the β€œfavorite” is, and it can feel demoralizing even when you know you’re doing great work. Have you ever had to work under a lead or manager who played favorites? How did you handle it without letting it mess with your confidence or performance?

What is the best (or worst) thing you’ve ever eaten at a work event? We recently had a pot luck and I burned my mouth on something super spicy. Normally I like something with a good kick. I’m not sure if it was brought in as a prank, but I wish it would have had a little note on it.

Being labeled a β€œtop performer” sounded great until I realized it just meant more work and no extra pay. I’m now the person everyone turns to when something’s on fire. Compliments don’t hit the same when they come with overtime.
