Offer rescinded during start date negotiation

      Pros

Timely hiring process and offer with competitive benefits

      Cons

Not open to negotiating start date. When I received the offer, I had surgeries scheduled for both my parents. I requested them to push the start date. But they rescinded my offer instead. I was only enquiring. If they would have let me know that they cannot push it, i would have joined at the given start date. They immediately rescinded my offer instead.

      Pros

Good colleagues, they make your job bearable since most of us are in remote working zone. There's some additional benefits beside your salary like flexible benefits, wfh set up claim.

      Cons

Retrenchments and termination within probation period due to redundancy is a big turn off. If you're joining this company, make sure you have backup savings cause the company can do it to you anytime. Also, they have a history of retrenchment in most of the departments every year so need to be careful.

Toxic management and very unhealthy working environment - stay away!

      Former employee

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The only benefit at this company is the salary.

      Cons

If you are considering joining the engineering team, I would strongly caution against it. While the Bangkok office location may seem attractive, the overall culture felt toxic and unsustainable. Teams were routinely overworked, expected to respond on weekends (despite messaging to the contrary), and in multiple instances asked to begin work before all required work-permit authorisations were finalised, which, based on my understanding, does not align with Thai work-authorisation requirements. Late-night work and artificial pressure were common, creating an unhealthy environment. Recent organisational changes emphasised tight control and micromanagement, fostering a culture of fear and inadequacy rather than growth and inclusion. Support for professional development was limited, and the workplace atmosphere was rarely collaborative or positive. On the technical side, the payments tech stack is severely outdated, the codebase is riddled with technical debt, and testing practices are almost nonexistent. This results in instability and frustration for engineers. Overall, this is not a place that values people or sound engineering practices. I would not recommend joining.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We take feedback like this very seriously, and we are looking into the matters raised. Coda operates in full compliance with the laws and requirements of every market where we do business, including employment and work authorization standards. At Coda, we are committed to building a workplace where people feel supported, respected, and able to grow. We know this requires constant attention and improvement. While individual experiences can vary, your comments reinforce the importance of ensuring our culture, leadership practices, and work environment meet the standards we set for ourselves. To that end, we are continuously looking at ways to strengthen: 1) Coda culture: creating an environment where collaboration is the norm, diverse perspectives are valued, and people have the space and support to do their best work. 2) Leadership in action: investing in training and coaching to promote clarity, accountability, transparency in communication, and openness in how decisions are made and shared. 3) Engineering and technical environment: equipping our technology teams with the tools, practices, and long-term investments needed to deliver with confidence and pride in their work. Pros

Nice office, majority of colleagues are nice, they have a kitchen with good food, opportunity to learn

      Cons

The company lacks professionalism from the top of some departments, with extreme micromanagement and constant job insecurity, even having a permanent contract. Employees are at risk of being fired for voicing concerns or expressing anything. When expressing needs for salary alignment on company’s survey, HR brushes it off by saying “look at what we offer you,” while focusing on benefits like having oat milk in the new coffee machine. Managers kindly ask employees to reveal their anonymous survey responses. They love to show off the “Recharge House” and talk about the company values, the behaviors employees should adopt, and talk about maintaining a culture, but what culture is it really? Toxicity.
