Description Antofagasta is one of the world's leading copper miners. It produces more than 420,000 tons of copper annually and another 7,800 tons of molybdenum. Antofagasta's road and railway operations transport mine output and consumable products in northern Chile and Bolivia. Antofagasta also owns a water distribution company in Chile. In 2010 the company formed a joint venture with Duluth Metals on the Twin Metals project, a nonferrous metals development in northeastern Minnesota. Autofagasta has a 40% stake in the Twin Metals partnership, which is exploring for copper, nickel, and platinum group metal deposits. Chile's Luksic family owns more than half of Antofagasta through the E. Abaroa Foundation.
