To wrap up Black History Month, we had the privilege of welcoming the brilliant Tom Moutchi - actor, writer, and producer - to our London office and virtually to iQers across the UK for a special speaker session. This year’s BHM theme, “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” was powerfully embodied in Tom’s story. He took us on a journey through his life and career, highlighting pivotal moments where he stood firm in his own path. From arriving in London from the Ivory Coast and overcoming language barriers, to choosing to follow his passion for the arts despite opposition, each chapter of his journey was a testament to resilience and pride. An iQer shared, “We heard all about Tom's life and career, sharing early experiences that shaped his path to becoming a talented actor, producer, and writer. His story was truly inspiring. From bunting to balloons to biscuits and cakes, our Site teams pulled out all the stops to create the best welcome for our students across the country. Last month, we held our annual JumpStart for Social Mobility challenge. According to the Social Mobility Commission’s 2024 report, only 7% of young adults from lower working-class backgrounds reach higher professional occupations. So, we set ourselves a challenge. For every iQer who 'kicked it up' for Social Mobility, we donated to upReach, our charity partner. We saw iQers kicking it, bouncing it, throwing it and even juggling with rollerblades on! Since 2023, our partnership with upReach through the iQ Thrive Academy has supported over 100 students with accommodation bursaries, mentoring, internships, and more in addition to our sponsorship of 80 associates through upReach’s three-year programme....Show more
