Description Astralis hopes Psoraxine is the cure for psoriasis; the question is whether it will cure the ailing company's financial woes. The company's lead product candidate, which is in clinical trials, could treat psoriasis by stimulating the immune system. Originally developed by Chairman Jose O'Daly as a vaccine for leishmaniasis, the drug showed promise in treated psoriasis. Phase II studies of the drug, however, did not show any statistical improvement in those participating in the study. The company is currently evaluating the data and plans to further develop Psoraxine. Astralis also is developing therapies for eczema and other skin disorders as well as rheumatoid arthritis. SkyePharma owns 39% of the company.
