Century A/C Supply is a Houston-based wholesale distributor of Ruud HVAC equipment and supplies with 13 locations. Founded in 1973 by Dennis Bearden, Century A/C is a privately-owned company serving residential and commercial air conditioning contractors, the apartment industry, schools and government entities, and industrial companies throughout the state of Texas. By following the Gung Ho philosophy, employees are empowered to treat customers as friends and provide a level of service one would expect in a ‘mom and pop’ shop. Century staff are on a first-name basis with customers and often say “we’re small enough to know you but big enough to serve you".
After one year of working for a company in the HVAC wholesale industry, Century’s CEO and Founder, Dennis Bearden decided that there had to be a better way to operate an HVAC distributorship. It was then that Dennis developed a business philosophy that has been Century’s driving force. Dennis’s philosophy: To regard employees as family and to treat customers as friends with a generous amount of customer service thrown in.
This simple but powerful idea caught on; Century continued to grow and by 1995, through new store openings and acquisitions under the leadership of President Rick Luke, Century grew to eleven branches in the Houston and southeast Texas area. In 1992, the company also expanded its reach into the Midwestern states, and acquired Air Management Supply.
In 1998, Century formally adopted a business philosophy called Gung Ho! The Gung Ho! values are those that have been passed down through generations of Native Americans and involve three cornerstones that are surprisingly simple, yet amazingly powerful. Gung Ho! has created a collection of enthusiastic Century employees who are truly “providing customers with service beyond expectations” and transforming our customers into raving fans.
Today, Century A/C boasts twenty-two locations across Texas, including the Houston Metro area, Lufkin, Conroe, Angleton, Bay City, Dallas, Richardson, Mesquite, Waco, San Antonio and San Marcos with brand new locations in South Austin, Cedar Park, and Fort Worth.
Century A/C Supply also carries a long history of awards, and we take pride and celebrate each achievement. Century has been named a Houston Top Workplace and Top 100 Privately Owned Company by the Houston Chronicle, a Top 50 HVAC Distributor by HARDI, a Top 100 National Distributor by The Wholesaler Magazine, Premiere 125 by Supply House Times, Supplier of the Year by the TAA, HAA, AAA, and has also received multiple awards from our equipment manufacturers.
