This year's theme for International Women's Day is Break the Bias - we can choose to help break the bias, challenge inequality and stereotypes and celebrate women’s achievements. To mark International Women’s Day, we have two webinars we invite colleagues to attend: Menopause Awareness Hosted by Positive Pause, this session will help create a greater understanding and awareness of menopause, breakdown the stigma and challenge the stereotypes. We realise the need for ZSL to have a transparent and open system for supporting individuals who are going through menopause, ensuring that employees who need additional support feel able to approach their line manager on the issue. Women's health webinar Hosted by We Are Wellbeing this session will look at why creating healthy habits play an important role in helping us live happier and healthier. This webinar will cover the causes and signs of ill health in women, making wellbeing a priority and positive actions you can take to support your health. #BreakTheBias ...Show more

Mental health and wellbeing are one of our priorities at ZSL and part of this is the ability to provide effective mental health support to colleagues. We recently welcomed a new cohort of Mental Health First Aiders from across the organisation who will join the existing team. With an additional 10 male team members joining, we now have a more gender balanced, inclusive group. All of the team have undergone intensive training that covers an in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing, spotting the triggers and signs of mental health issues, and enhancing interpersonal skills to support and listen without judgement. The Mental Health First Aid team are a point of contact if an employee, or someone they are concerned about, would benefit from talking things through. Although they are not trained counsellors, therapists or psychiatrists; they can listen empathetically, give initial support and signpost to appropriate help if needed. They are also able to support managers if they require guidance....Show more
