IdenTrust is banking on the need for secure transactions. The company works with some of the world's top financial institutions to issue digital identity certificates to companies doing business over the Internet. Using public-key infrastructure (PKI) technology from IdenTrust, financial firms can confirm for sellers the identity of prospective customers, helping to prevent fraud. IdenTrust also serves government agencies such as the US Department of Defense and the US Department of Energy. IdenTrust was founded in 1998 by a consortium of banks that included ABN AMRO, Barclays, Citigroup, and Deutsche Bank.
