Tuffy Associates knocks out tough auto problems and keeps its customers off new car lots. The firm operates more than 235 franchised and company-owned Tuffy Auto Service Centers in some 20 states, primarily east of the Mississippi River. Though Tuffy first began as a muffler shop, it has expanded, similarly to its competitors, into other services, including repairs and maintenance for suspension, brakes, and steering. Tuffy also owns about 170 franchised and company-owned Car-X Tire & Auto dealers and maintains it as a separate brand and operation. Tuffy Associates has been opening stores under the Tire & Auto name even though most of its stores offer the same services.
