Holding company Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes (Portuguese for Goal Intelligent Airlines) is looking to score profits from both of its airline units. Low-fare subsidiary Gol Transportes Aéreos, operates under the GOL brand, flying mainly within Brazil, but also to other South American and Caribbean countries. Gol's full-service carrier, VRG Linhas Aéreas, operates under the VARIG brand and offers more amenities than Gol, including Comfort Class service (more leg room and hot entrées). Combined, the carriers serve approximately 60 destinations with a fleet of more than 100 aircraft, nearly all of which are Boeing 737s. Four members of the Constantino family of São Paulo together hold a controlling stake in Gol.
