Recommended Reading serves up a mixed dose of popular news and Web content for those who consume their information online. The privately-held company owns Mixx.com, through which it delivers content -- including stories, photos, and videos -- submitted by registered users. Anything from breaking political news to a random blog about cheeseburgers can be submitted, shared, and commented on. The YourMixx personal page allows users to customize their content by selecting certain categories, tags, and groups. Mixxers can also "tweet" their submissions on Twitter. Through the Google AdSense program, people with Web sites can advertise on Mixx pages; the revenue share with Mixx is 50/50.
