Description The US International Trade Commission (ITC) was created in 1916 as the US Tariff Commission and changed its name after the Trade Act of 1974. The ITC gathers data and makes recommendations to the President regarding all trade related issues such as implementing trade remedies (used to minimize the negative affect of imports on domestic industries) and determining whether agricultural imports interfere with subsidized programs of the US Department of Agriculture. The ITC also investigates unfair import trade practices including patent, trademark, and copyright infringement, and updates the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the US -- the HTS is a list of all items exported out of or imported into the US.
