Cardero Resource is hot on the trail for mineral deposits. The company explores copper, iron, gold, and silver properties in Argentina, Mexico, and Peru. In Mexico, where most of its projects are located, Cardero Resource has exploration operations in Baja California and San Luis Potosi. The Baja properties had been a partnership with minerals giant Anglo American until 2006, when Cardero Resource assumed full ownership. Australian mining giant Rio Tinto is involved in one of Cardero Resource's projects in Peru. Cardero Resource also has a silver project in Argentina. In 2011 it acquired Coalhunter Mining Corporation in British Columbia.
