Alcohol is the raison d'être for Maxxium Worldwide -- and it may have something to do with the "creative" spelling of its name. Maxxium is a joint venture between Scotland's Edrington Group and the US's Beam Global Spirits. It distributes both company's libations (Edrington's The Famous Grouse, The Macallan Single Highland Malt, and Cutty Sark Scotch whiskey; and Beam's Jim Beam bourbon, Canadian Club, Sauza Tequila, and Maker's Mark) in more than 30 countries across the globe. Maxxium's d'être has lessened throughout its existence, the raison being the pull out of two members of the venture -- notably, the V&S Group and Rémy Cointreau.
