Limited training and high expectations overshadow benefits

Decent Benefits (ie: time off, holidays....) Great opportunity to experience complex and challenging patient cases.

Cons

Far outweigh the Pros. Training is minimal, the expectations for work are high, upper management is not transparent and make no effort to get to know their staff, Staff is rated on how many billable hours they can get, Policies and procedures are inconsistent and only enforced for some.

Working as a CMHC therapist, you’ll get A LOT of experience as you’ll see a wide variety of individuals with diagnoses ranging from generalized anxiety d/o to schizophrenia. They also make sure you’re trained - multiple modalities to choose from such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, SI and etc.

Cons

Salaries leave MUCH to be desired! Productivity metrics and accompanying documentation can be a headache - often too much!
