Pros
There's some flexibility with working from home.
Cons
Pay for this job was $15/hour and I needed to write about eight stories a day for a six hour shift.
You work as a freelancer, so you have to be responsible for your own taxes and bring your own laptop, though I didn't find this out until I got hired.
They go through staff like crazy here. Once, the boss and an employee got into a fight, the employee quit and our boss pulled the rest of us into the office to gossip about the employee and then said that he fired them.
The owner is a nice person on the surface, but not a great boss. He pretends he cares what you think, but completely disregards your opinion. He had asked all of us how we felt about moving into an office two hours away, but had already made the decision to move into it, so he was asking purely for show. Similar situations happened a lot. I told him I wasn't comfortable editing my own stories, that it wasn't professional to not have an editor, but he kept pushing me and told me I just don't have enough confidence in myself. In the end I had to be both writer and editor (for no extra pay).
He expects you to constantly take on more work, but won't compensate you for it. I told him I was unhappy and would look for other work if things didn't change. When I quit for a new job a few months later, he acted surprised.
