Pros

Lots of new graduates so great social environment, mostly in the support team though.

Cons

Acturis cares little of its employees, especially those in the support team. In my time there certain other teams treated me as less than human. The team was paid less than every other team despite being more overworked than everyone else. I had little to no respect each day. Understaffing was a huge problem, with no effort being made to hire more. Upon pay reviews some members of the team were left being paid less than new joiners due to a pay rise for all new hires. Sexism is rife with the company openly admitting that it has bias towards hiring equally qualified women into less technical roles (e.g. I was given a less technical than I applied for whilst a male friend of mine from the same uni with the same degree and the same grade interviewing for the same role was given a more techbical role than appied for). Company has a poor history of attracting women into the company (not surprising considering the attitude towards them) and there's not even a HR deparyment to deal with poor behaviour from management. Salary is far below industry standards and no training is provided. Overall this is a dead end job with an uncaring company. This company would rather keep its high turnover of fresh graduates than retain any kind of experience.

Thank you for your review. I am very concerned that you feel that sexism is rife; the well-being and fair treatment of all our employees is something we take very seriously. Your comment that the company admits it “has a bias towards hiring equally qualified women into less technical roles” sounds like it may be based on a communication we sent round to all colleagues following the publication of our gender pay gap report. We had identified this as one of several possible contributing factors to our gender pay gap, based on the higher proportion of women in some less technical teams. Our gender pay gap working group investigated this further and found that in fact the proportion of women in technical vs non-technical roles accurately reflects the proportion of applications we receive for each role. Therefore the analysis of the actual data showed that this was not based on bias. Acturis is fully committed to gender equality, and in response to issues identified by our gender pay gap working group, we have recently updated and improved our maternity and shared parental leave policies to put us in the top 25% of similar companies. We have also made changes to our recruitment process with the aim of attracting more women to apply. We know there is still more to do and we are continuing to monitor our gender pay data and make improvements. If you would like to provide further feedback on your experience so that we can address this please email info@acturis.com.
